I will be getting a Wii U, but before I get a Wii U I must sell my Wii to get money to buy it. I want to transfer my stuff but I can't because it requires a Wii U to transfer to BEFORE you can begin the transfer process. I was thinking of ways to bypass this problem, then this idea came to mind.

Would this work?

Since you have to put a SD card on a target Wii U console, I would assume that it puts data onto that card. If I download the data put onto the card from the internet would it work, or is each data different for the target Wii U? I would have used that data and put it on a SD card then begin the transfer proccess then I would sell my Wii and then transfer the data when I buy a Wii U.

Would that work? It seems very Farfetch'd but would it work?

I'm a little confused. So will you go on to the Wii's transfer data channel, put the data on the SD card, then later put it into the Wii U and finish the transfer? That won't work because you have to format it on the Wii U first, then put it back into the Wii for it to put the data onto the SD card, then put it BACK into the Wii U to finish the transfer. If that's not what you were saying, could you explain it differently?

I don't follow what you're asking.
Mostly because I don't know what you mean by getting data off of the internet. Could you elaborate?

Let me clarifiy this up.

The Internet Connection will be used to check which software you own will pass, as well of transferring your ownership of softwares you've downloaded.

Actually, you need BOTH your Wii console and Wii U console with you to perform a System Transfer without losing your games and saved data. The Wii System Transfer you've downloaded from Wii Shop Channel will only check for the moving data that your Wii U created, and then continue the transfer process if it's there.

If you sell your Wii before finishing the process, you can definitely kiss a goodbye to your Wii data and games!

Still don't get that? Well, click here.
