Channels are region locked, if I recall correctly.

I could, but I couldn't give you any channels. The Wii Shop Channel is region locked.

Unless if you're using a Japanese Wii, you cannot receive any channel made for Japanese Wiis, even by the gift sending function. I'm not sure about photos, but I think they should work.
