Because some people don't know when to quit! And they don't realize how absolutely childish they're acting by boycotting something because it's not free.
Edit: I will say that I don't agree with how Valve went about this, since it was kind of underhanded after they promised to add content to L4D, but instead released an entirely new game. But I don't think boycotting it is good, either, since most of the people who complain about it just come off as immature. Gotta love arguments on the internets!
