Why I no longer want the perfect town

i've worked really hard on my town, and i like the way it's laid out, but one thing i've found myself doing to keep my interest alive is i let go of villagers a lot, some by accident, some by choice. and i mean it sucks having to re-plot a new villager in the same old spot one once was bc of my paths and pwps are set up certain ways, but having new villagers come and go is what makes it so fun for me. i just got cherry and shes so freaking cute i love her. im trying to cycle out bam and in turn get a lazy or a smug villager to move in. who idk yet, but ill look when the time comes i guess. :)

I'm still passively chasing after my perfect town after a summer (2013) of over 500 hours. Because of university I hardly have any free time for anything atm (I should be learning even right now but I don't feel motivated anymore), but my dream lives on. I'm actually quite close to finishing. If I had two weeks of nothing to do (which I won't have... for long... if ever), I might even be able to finish it in that time. If you ask me "what after you finish?". Well, as I said I don't have time anyway, so I would be pretty much really, seriously finished and hardly play anymore. I don't see that as a problem at all.

I feel like we all make ourselves want the perfect town. In reality, the perfect town is the one that we played.

I play how I want. I don't desire certain villagers to an extent (hey I'm only human!) but I won't buy any villagers with bells or TBT. My paths formed naturally by where I planted flowers/trees/bushes and placed PWPs. I would say that my town now is perfect but I know there's others who wouldn't agree.

Perfect is subjective, anyway. Perfect, to me, doesn't mean paths or certain villagers or houses put into perfect rows. Perfect means it pleases me.

I usually strive for the perfect town or in my opinion how i'd like my town to look. But I usually take it slowly when decorating my town as if I do a lot in a day, I feel like i'm doing too much at once and it doesn't really motivate me to carry on with decorating.

I used to play Animal Crossing naturally until I got New Leaf. With this game, I felt it was easier to customize your town compared to previous games. My current town is perfect, at least villager wise. I worked for over two years to get all cats, and I have to say I'm really pleased. However, I do sometimes miss the old feeling of Animal Crossing. There's something about New Leaf that doesn't feel the same as other games. I still love the game though, and my town. I don't think I will play how I used to, at least not now. I'm glad you have found a way to enjoy the game. I honestly think taking the "natural" approach to the game is a lot less stressful than the way I'm playing. I constantly have to worry about maintaining my town and making sure no one ever leaves. I never really had to worry about that with my other towns. It was kind of a go with the flow kind of thing.

Definitely.. it was fun to strive for a perfect town (with really high standards), but after taking long breaks from the game and seeing my favorite villagers leave, what I'm doing now will make it less stressful if I have to take breaks.

Now that I look more closely to my town, the public work projects, villagers/placement of their homes, pathways, my house and everything.. it's really out of wack. When I first started playing animal crossing new leaf I didn't have a perfect town mind set. I usually play day by day since class schedules and not a lot of time, so my town is kind of in a slow progress. I've only time travelled a couple of times to quickly finish up the Gracie's fashion check and for the completion of public work projects, but even though I haven't reached my perfect town yet, I think my town and everything else will be super quirky no matter what so my perfect town is more like a quirfect town.

I feel the same way. I saw the PERFECT town on YouTube and other sites, and I became envious of them, so I wanted to make my own perfect town. I tried for a while, laying down paths, creating fruit tree orchards, scraping for money and TTing to get Gracie and Katrina, I went crazy for a while, but then I finally realized that the way to truly play this game is to experience it, not control it. Anyways, I'm having way more fun than I used to.
