Why I dislike Time travelling in NL

I wouldn't compare Animal Crossing to real life. If you want to time travel, that's fine. Don't want to? That's fine. There will always be people who do and people who don't. There is no right or wrong way to play. My way works better for me and yours works for you.

Yeah, see, when people start to imply that TTing is "dishonest" and "cheating" and "wrong", and that they are somehow the better gamer for choosing not to TT, that's when I roll my eyes.

If TTing was truly dishonest, a way to "cheat" at the game, then Nintendo would have never included it as a feature. But they did. Because it's not dishonest, or cheating, or wrong. It's just an option to enhance the gameplay experience for people who personally enjoy moving at a faster pace. There's nothing "dishonest" about it.

Incorrect. Nintendo did not include time traveling as a feature, they included the option to change the date. That's something completely different. Animal Crossing has a built-in clock so it can be based on real time, and to make the game know what date and time it is for you, you need the ability to set the time and date. After the start of the game, thia option can still be used so that you can adjust to daylight saving time and eventual time zone changes.

True, but Nintendo is aware people use the date and time feature to TT. (Villager rumor calling you a time traveler.) Plus, there are ways to change time and prevent time travel. Could've had harsh punishments for manipulating the game time but TTing in NL has the least amount of negative effects compared to the previous games.

I understand your point, and though I'd love to play on a day-to-day basis for full experience, I (like all of us, I presume!) have other of priorities in life (i.e. school, family, etc.) that I attend to first. During the summer, I had nothing to do, so I barely TT-ed and anticipated each day in the game, whatever the game has prepared for me. Now, I really want to focus on my town, but I don't have the leisure to wait every day to work on it. Time traveling, for me, is mainly skipping ahead each day, and those TT-ed days make up for the days I couldn't play (I don't know if you get my point, I explain horribly). It doesn't take the fun out of it, because I still love to see what's prepared for every day, even though I don't stay in that day the whole... day. x)

Everyone is entitled to their opinion though! :D

I have always TT-ed a lot in AC, mainly because I get impatient when I've paid a loan or pwp off. I've just reset my game though and I've told myself not to TT as much as I did previously, we shall see if I listen to myself I guess.

Everyone has their own opinion on it though and nobody is forcing anyone to do it or not do it, we all play differently. :)

I second the motion. I mean, if we players know we have the ability to abuse the clock-changing system, I'm pretty sure the people of Nintendo already guessed that first (It's sooooo obvious anyway).
They placed the clock-changing system for everyone's convenience. It's up to us what to do with it. :]

I understand what you mean completely. I used to TT a lot, but then I realised it feels like i'm rushing everything like getting the stores etc when I could just earn them myself and everytime I do TT I always end up deleting the town because I become unhappy with it. That's why i've decided to not TT since then.

I think that if people have fun time traveling, then good for them. They should be able to play the game however they like. I don't time travel much anymore because I'm paranoid someone will move out, but I don't think there's anything wrong with time traveling. Personally, I get bored playing the same day all the way through. I feel like after a few hours there just isn't very much to do.

I remember as a kid I used to TT a lot mainly so I could experience all the holiday's at one and see all the cool things this game had to offer. Now that I am older and a bit wiser, I am a bit hesitant to TT, because most of the benefit's I could get, like stores upgrading etc, don't matter too much because if I really needed a item I could just buy it from a shop on the forum's. I just want to take things slow for once instead of rushing it.

You are right..it spoils tomorrow. Tomorrow can be today..hell..last year or next year could be. It does ruin it, take the magic out of it but if you use it very little it can be helpful. I don't blame you for not wanting to do it i guess i did it in WW and i wasn't really wanting to do it in NL...now i cant stop now that i know what i'm doing. Its a little sad it takes the magic out of the game. I can also get anything i want and that ruins it but that's coming off track. Things like that just takes everything you enjoy about the game out. My boyfriend just go the game yet since he knows how to time travel he is inches away from getting a biiig house. Animal Crossing is about collecting and when you take that away with time travel it ruins it completely. Sometimes i wish i hadn't and sometimes it is useful like getting that ugly villager out. It just depends how you use it and how much.

Since some of you are comparing this to real life to argue against time travelling, allow me to do the same but for time travelling instead.
When you time travel through Animal Crossing, that's like not playing for days and picking it up later. Compared to real life, it's like you're in your town and you sleep through or stay in your house through all those days. Time travel a year? It's like staying in your house for a year and not seeing any of your villagers.
How does that ruin the fun? I can understand how time travelling to updrage stores, solely to get public works projects built or suggested, villagers in or out, that could be seen as spoiling fun. But there are some people who don't find waiting for that stuff to be fun. Patience is important to have but this is just a game. Some people are too busy to wait, not because they're impatient. Also, some people play a day then time travel to play the next. I understand those of you against it but it's not something to take so seriously. :/

I agree with what aleonhart said. Animal Crossing isn't real life and our real lives are far more important than some video game.

This. Based on evidence in the game itself, Nintendo is fully aware that some players prefer to TT.

The way I see it, Time Travelling allows me the time I need to enjoy my real life and enjoy a game I love without any annoyance.

TTing is a part of the game. Whether we all agree on it or not. Some do it and others don't, I guess I can now see both sides of the coin

I can understand your viewpoint, but Time Traveling has always been a habit of mine ever since Wild World. Everything is too slow-paced for me without time traveling, and I feel myself getting easily bored. The game just wouldn't be as enjoyable for me if there wasn't a time-traveling option.

Yeah I feel like that sounds fine. I used to time travel a lot in the previous animal crossing wild world, but at the time I was really small and didn't know what I was doing so I effed my game up badly from time travelling.. But for sure time travelling is good, depending on what you want to play and do on your game, I mean you can still enjoy the game even though you time travelled for everything... because once you're done time teavelling you can still enjoy the game afterwards ~ I know what you mean though so, yay for memories and moments xD

Same here! I remember showing my friends how cool it was that I traveled 50 years into the future and stuff. I didn't really care that it affected my town, because it gave me a fun experience, and I got to play the game in a new way.

the only reason I time travel is because I hate waiting. I imagine it'd take more than 1 year for to complete my town and whatnot if I don't time travel.
