Why does Villager Dialogue Randomly Reset?

I know I've been away from the game for about a year but for the past month I've been consistently playing. For the most part I've had them giving me tasks, asking to come over and I've been sending out mail a lot more. Yesterday and today they're just giving me hints and repeating the same dialogue.

I understand the AI in this game isn't..... great, but surely they should be having more variety, no?
It's been awhile so maybe the game was always like this and I just can't remember.
Any thoughts are appreciated.

There are some tutorial dialogues that they never get rid of, like switching tools or using the 3DS camera. Like you said, the AI just isn't that great.

I still get the occasional tutorial dialog from my villagers even though I play every day. Last night I got tutorial dialog from 3 or 4 of them, but I think their dialog was limited because of the fireworks.

I'm still getting those tutorial dialogues every now and then. Don't get me started on trading/buying furniture. It seems to happen more than half of the time for me. Perhaps it may have something to do with friendship levels?

What kind of dialogue starts happening when you have a higher friendship? I honestly cant remember because its been years
