Why Does Reese have black eyes?

I was looking at my Reese and and Cyrus amibos, and I notice a peculiarity in Reese's design. Initially I thought it was simply a shortcut done for the figure, but upon going back to my village, and referencing it with various images, I noticed that it was no mistake. For some reason, Reese has skin so pale it's actually white, and coal black eyes, while her husband has peach coloured skin and human like eyes with corneas and irises. I was wondering if there was a reason for this design choice, or if it was just how they chose to make her look for no particular reason.

i'm sorry but the fact that you made an account solely to ask this question is amazing. i honestly don't know, but comparing her to cyrus, it kinda looks like she was planned for an older game, but never made the cut, and then was brought back in new leaf. if so, cyrus was designed after reese, for new leaf. perhaps they were made beady like that for a cute-type effect?

Looking at other Animal Crossing characters, especially from older games, that makes a lot of sense.

TBH I've never noticed - but had a look this morning and I think it makes Reese look cuter/more feminine.

I have negatively noticed some of the villagers - eg Bisket doesn't seem to have eyes just white holes, Coco has black holes for eyes - those are the two I've seen/noticed and not fond of.

I think it's for cuteness. Filbert has same eyes as Cyrus and they are both look more masculine for that reason. I think the one we should be concerned about is Broccolo! His eyes turn from black to yellow when he blinks! *shudders*
