Why do you want Nook mile tickets?

After seeing how many NMTs people are charging for certain villagers in trades (in the 30-100s range), I became curious as to why people wanted so many of these tickets. Are you just charging NMTs because it has become the new currency and you want to have some to do more trades later? Or do you actually use them to visit tens and hundreds of islands?

To me, the islands don't really offer anything special so I'm just super curious as to how the tickets became the new trading currency! For example, islands used to be one source of foreign flowers, but now we can just buy them from Leif. And hybrids are super easy to generate in NH -- easier than finding a rare hybrid flower island. Is it just because people want to search for specific villagers? I'd rather just pay TBT or bells to get a villager off someone else rather than spend hours looking for them on islands.

So yeah, basically just wondering what started the whole NMT economy, haha!

Yeah I don't see what all the fuss is about in reguards to Raymond tickets. I sold a few at the start to earn some quick cash but all my trading is for bells to help pay off stuff in the game.

i haven't sold any villagers yet, but the only reason i would want NMT is because i'm saving up for audie and she is expensive. i think it's the same for a lot of others - they're saving up for raymond, audie, judy; the new villagers that don't have amiibo cards yet and are therefore going for insane prices.

i rarely ever do trades that involve nmt and if i purchase them from someone, i will only do so using tbt - i refuse to buy one single ticket for 150k-300k lmao. that being said, i only want nmts as i actually find island hopping to be really fun, even if my luck isn’t that great lmao

Well NMT prices are starting to go down since the patch hit, but I'm guessing its because people want to find their dream villagers on islands but yes the prices are still high but they will go down!

Now that TBT is back up, I'd personally rather use that as my form of currency instead of NMT (which is why I'm selling some).
Other than that, a lot of people (including me a few weeks ago), use the islands to island hop and look for villagers. You also can snag the furniture from the tree and look for the DIY bottle. I've gained over 80 new DIY recipes just from all the island hops I've done.
I think they're definitely useful and come in handy especially if you're trying to island hop for all your villagers.

i honestly gave up on island hopping, it's not worth it especially if the villager you're looking for can be bought for less than 30 NMT,, but that's just me.

at this point people have started to shift more to use NMT , so as long as I don't really go to nook miles islands , they are good to trade for services or items.

If you could trade pure Nook Miles instead of NMT, I'm sure people would be doing that. But the NMT are pretty valuable- if you get your hands on a ton & decide not to use them as currency, you basically can get infinite mystery islands, heightening your chance of rare islands & villagers- seems especially useful if you're looking for a dreamie & don't want to TT.

There are many people who use NMTs as currency because up until recently, the islands were the best chance you had at getting your dream villagers without amiibos. And unless you're extremely lucky, you'll be spending thousands of tickets on the islands for these villagers. Of course, thanks to datamining and now that we understand the campsite better, we have a better way of getting dreamies. Manipulating the campsite is the best and most efficient way unless you've got thousands of tickets.

But that is honestly why most prefer NMTs over IGBs nowadays. We gotta go island hopping for villagers if you don't have access to amiibos.

I still don't understand the need for hundreds. Using NMTs to find popular villagers to then sell for NMTs seems like a lot of work for not much reward. And once you've found your dreamies, you probably still have an outrageous amount of tickets still left that are pretty useless except for gathering resources sometimes when your own island runs out.

Likely to exchange for other villagers or to find others by island jumping. Personally I'd only really use them for going to islands to get materials...I think if I was to ever auction off a villager I'd do it for IGB or DIYs (difficult to value). No idea what I'd use so many NMT for personally.

I just wanna buy art and artists are dreamie-hunting so I'm willing to dump NMT at them for art.

I'm addicted to gach.

Of course, I could go for a better cranky villager that isn't Cyd if I like them and I can't find Cashmere at all.

It’s the new currency. Personally , I rather the bells because it helps me right now that I’m designing my town....but when I start to trade for wishlist items...I suppose the NMT will be nice. I have all my dreamies in Amiibo. I like Raymond, but unless he visits me, I don’t see myself getting him. I don’t plant on visiting islands either as all the ones I go to are all the same. I see people want the NMT to try and get these popular villagers though.

Bells lost value because of duplication glitch. And people wanted NMT to look for dreamies. So, it's established as a currency. Tbh, right now I want NMT only to buy a pagoda (since I will search for Ankha with the campsite method and Tom is a low tier anyway), it's like 20 NMT lmaoo

I suppose it should've been pretty obvious the main reason was for finding dreamies. /facepalm. Haha. As someone who usually prefers getting my favourites by chance rather than instantly, I always forget a lot of people actively search for villagers!

Funny, I said pretty much the same exact thing in another thread not long ago.
