Why do Uchis get so happy?

I can confirm, yeah, you only have this option when selling to an uchi. I've never charged Mira for anything, or turned her offer down, nor will I ever. I even bought a painting from her yesterday for over 4k bells totes expecting it to be a shifty fake (which was fine w/ me bc I love her and I'm also rlly broke) but turned out to be real!! Uchis are always a little shady and very cheerful, and I also always got the impression they came from poorer families..

It is not really confirmed but I'll tell anyway.
You know how Uchi's always act Tomboyish? The main character of our story today, will be Deirdre.
Deirdre is from a poor family. Her mother washes clothes for their neigbours as a living, while her father fixes old, worn out shoes. Their jobs are not dependable source of income,so sometimes they do not eat at all. They do not buy things like toys, jewelry, furniture, because they cannot afford them.
Deirdre is the eldest of 4 children. The younger children usually get bullied by other kids, due to the fact that their family is poor.Since Deirdre is the eldest, and they have no older brother to protect them,Deirdre decided to act like the 'big brother' of the family, protecting her siblings and taking part time jobs anywhere.Which lead her to acting more boyish and less feminine. When somebody gives her free items, she smiles because she was not used to having items for free. Nor even having items at all.
So when Uchis buy from you, always give them a freebie.
9/10 almost thought you weren't joking

I also think about their back stories! I have Fuchsia and Renee and they both talk about how big my house is and how they can't afford furniture so yeah!
I like this headcanon a whole lot *o*

I had the option to give someone a freebie, and I just sold it to them. Next time, I'll see if I can remember to give them the freebie! I love making my villagers happy.

This head cannon is perfect for Hazel, she even has the patchwork set in her house, like she can't afford fancy furniture. :c

Reading some of these topics about the Uchis, I think I've gained a whole new level of admiration towards them.

As big sisters types, they're used to looking out and protecting their friends/siblings. So, when you do something nice for them they really weren't expecting your generosity, so they're more outwardly excited about being treated so nicely.

Because they're "cool" or "hip" which is what uchi means in Japanese, hence the title of their personality type, so they're all excited when they get something for free- or think the trade was in their favor, as I've had both Rachel (Paula) and Pashmina act that way when I gave them stuff that was a trade up for them.

Are they tomboyish? I've never thought of them that way.

They seem more hipster to me. Doing their own thing. Anyway, I think it's cute that they get happy so easily
