i'm one of those who doesn't want species repeats lol.. and then i ended up having one in the end. i like variety and that's pretty much it. there are so many cute species, and yeah, i probably like a handful of cats more than i like any one villager from another species, but i prefer the variety over my like for that specific villager, if that makes sense.
I prefer variety too but don't mind one or 2 repeats. In this game and WW I've had both Nan and Chevre and it feels kind of wrong to separate them now. (Especially as each has a photo of the other on her wall)
It's all preference vs variety, the same way some do not like repeating personalities while others have close to half or a majority that is all the same. Although I am a dog person, I have three cat villagers and I'm ok with it since their model designs are solid!
yeah i care more about personality variety than species variety. i have 3 sheep in my town and if the sanrio villagers ever get released itll be 4. i cant help it theyre all just so cute!
I prefer variety. I don't mind two of the same species if they look very different from each other but Hornsby and Tank on the same island would probably annoy me. They're both blue rhinos and I know they are different shades of blue and differrent personalities but it would be too similar for me.
Some people enjoy the variety. I'm personally okay with repeats, but I think different villager types in my town would be good, and have moved out a couple of my cat villagers.
for me its always been about the actual variety of the specific villager in question. like i had fauna and beau and it felt just too similar to want to keep - because they are both natural looking deer. but i have fuchsia and lopez now and they don't bother me at all becuase they are so different. you don't look at them and think BOTH DEER.
i find variety compelling and a must have in a routine game like ac.
I don't hate or even dislike seeing species repeats but in my own town I want to give myself as much variety as possible and like the idea of a diverse town and world filled with many different species, personalities, colors, etc. Which is why I don't allow myself any repeats and I am always happy with my decision. I love seeing other people have special friend groups or species specific islands but it isn't for me.
