Why do people like Coco and kid cat so much?

Personal preference, to each their own, etc. Kid Cat is a superhero PLUS a cat which makes him very popular. Coco has an interesting design and she tends to be more polarizing. The lack of eyes makes her look spooky which might fit with a lot of people's town themes. My brother hates her haha. She scared him when we had her in the Gamecube Animal Crossing. It's funny because he started playing New Leaf and she was already there, waiting to haunt him. I think she grew on him a little because he said, "Coco is my favorite villager but only because I hate everyone else so much."

I know people like Coco because she stands out from all the other villagers in the game - it's similar to how Lucky is popular because he looks unique as well. I think Kid Cat is adorable because he's like a little kid pretending to be a superhero :3

I share the same sentiment about Kid Cat. I really wanted him.. but then when I got him.. I felt like he was so boring. His house isnt all that interesting.. and he didnt have an interesting personality like some of the other villagers. I won't be keeping him... :(

Coco actually used to be the villager nobody wanted nor liked because of her design. I guess in this new era of acceptance, and the fact that her personality throws of the judgement, she climbed up the popularity ladder when more people started appreciating her for her uniqueness (Same with how every other Tier 5 and below villager gets their love-uniqueness!)

As for Kid Cat, he was always an all-time favorite. If there was any villager to have, it was him. He was one of those villagers with cute-enough designs to grab people's hearts, and that's pretty much what made him a natural popular villager.

I have Coco in my CF town, she's so sweet and kind, too bad she has a face of a gyroid (fans should know by now about the whole haniwa thing).
