Why do people forbid visitors from talking to their villagers?

Before I get an angry letter in my PM box, just know that I?m not making a complaint here. I?m here to ask a question.

So whenever I?m in the retail or villager trading plaza section of this forum, the posts in those sections have the rule ?don?t talk to the villagers? when you pick up something. But why?

I guess it makes sense if someone is moving out that day, but what if no villagers are moving out that day? Wouldn?t it not matter?

I think the reason why people do not want others to talk to villagers has to do with the fact that conversations with visitors are remembered by villagers and they mention the conversation occasionally. Some people find it endearing while others find it annoying. I am personally in the camp of the former since I find it cool when villagers mention old friends of mine that I haven't heard from in a while (brings back memories)! :)

Yes, this is basically it. I like seeing my villagers bring up past conversations, but for whatever reason that conversation happens a lot and can get old really fast. Especially when they're talking about some person who sold their fruits in your Re-Tail a month ago who you barely even remember.

yup. this is it basically. i like it when my villagers talk about people who've come through my town but the only people who ever do are people that i'm trading with on this website, and typically i won't play with them again, so it's best for my villagers to not get attached lol.

It's perfectly fine for people to not want visitors to talk to their villagers.
Personally, I encourage everyone to talk to my villagers, whether they're friends or just passing through. I think it gives my villagers a more fleshed out personality, and reminds me that they have their own lives that don't revolve around the mayor, lol!

Unless, someone has an unfortunate player/town name, it really doesn't bother me if anyone talks to my villagers.
But I can see how it would be annoying. my villagers mostly talk about recent dream address visitors.
