Why do my favourites want to move? ;.;

There are several reasons I like to call Animal Crossing "the game that hates you". One of them is that my dreamies are always the most eager ones to get out of Windhall.

I would say I treat my villagers all equal, because I know pampering others more than others isn't good, and hitting the ones I want to go won't help either. But why would you do this to me Skye and Wolfgang D:

I didn't let them leave of course, they're gonna be here forever and never leave! Not on my watch! >:I

This is also pretty frustrating since I want my dreamies as soon as possible, but Rocco, Poncho, Gayle and Beardo refuse to go! (Poncho tried to go once, but I didn't let him)

But I suppose there is hope, today Ava let me know she's gonna leave. Finally! So TBT, any instances where your favoured villagers want to leave but not the ones you absolutely and utterly LOATHE?

I dunno, maybe Ava is just scared of getting eaten by the wolves or something :L

For some odd reason, the ones you spend more time with are more likely to want to move. It doesn't make any sense why it was programmed that way.

It's because your friendship is high. The higher it is, the more they will ask to move and if you say yes it's more likely for them to move.

Yeah, I know my friendship is high. But I've treated pretty much all of my villagers all equally well. But Wolfgang and Skye were barely in town for 2 weeks and already wanted to move, but Ava has been here since the start and only asked to move today!

I feel you. Skye asks to move like twice a week. She's not my FAVORITE, but I'm not letting her go. Whereas I want to move Bruce out since I have three pictures of him but he won't ask to leave!

Because one of the "objects" of the game is to get your villagers pictures which you do that by getting your friendship with said villager up. They'll try and move if you're really good friends, it's the games way of throwing a wrench into your plans of achieving that goal :)

I know what you mean. Wolfgang has already asked me to move about 10 times.
Even since my last blunder of hitting a villager with a net, I try my best to maintain good friendship with everyone but I also noticed that the ones I love have always seemed to want to move more frequently.

I personally don't get the logic behind the game design either. It wouldn't make any sense in real life that someone I repeatedly hit with a net would not want to leave town. :P

Erik has asked 5+ times. The other ones took their sweeeeet time getting out.

Yeah, like I understand the mechanics of the game and essentially how to get a villager to move by befriending them at all, but it doesn't make any sense to me either. If I'm nice to a villager, I obviously like them and want them around, so why do I have to meticulously talk to everyone like 10 times every day just to ensure none of my "favorites" want to leave, and why do I have to be nice to the random StreetPass move in just to get them to leave when I didn't even want them in my town in the first place? It's such a strange system, and it's becoming such a chore to keep the villagers I like from leaving.

^ My thoughts exactly.
I think the game is based on the notion that befriending all villagers and going through many different villagers through the course of playing is a fun thing to do. Maybe the developers didn't think of the "dreamie" phenomenon when designing the game and thought that players would be more interested in experiencing a large variety of characters instead. XD
Perhaps, they should consider this in the next game. I really wish there was an easier way to stop villagers you want from leaving because running around town like a maniac each day just to check up on everyone is starting to become quite tiring.

i hate how villagers with a high friendship want to move more. :/ the only reason i can think of why it might be programmed that way is that since the intention of the game is to have different animals moving in and out (i don't think the developers anticipated people having favorites/dreamies/etc) it figures that if you have a high friendship with a villager that means you already spent a lot of time with them and now its time for a new one? as opposed to one you ignore forever that never wants to move out, maybe the game assumes you just need more time to interact with them.

I don't know though, just a guess. it is really frustrating.

Kyle is constanely asking to leave, and the answer is always NO!

The first villager I've asked to move was Jitters, and he changed his mind -_-
I got Lily out, and I'm pretty happy about that. But now I don't have a normal XC. But now I have a snooty.

ARRGGGHHH

That's true, I mean before joining the forums I gave little thought to my villagers, too, and who my neighbors were. Villagers came and left, and I didn't really care too much. I never thought of having a town full of villagers I liked, I just accepted that some were cute and some weren't, and lived happily with them all the same. :p It never occurred to me I could "force" someone to move using the game mechanics.

But yeah, it would be nice if your "friend villagers" don't want to move so often, or they could make it so that the more you ask a villager to stay, the less they will ask to move. I do see what they originally intended the game to be though, just a simple life sim where you can experience a bunch of different villagers.

I'm actually glad that raising friendship makes the villagers want to leave. Sure, it means my permies keep asking if they want to leave, which wastes a chance for someone else to move away, and if I don't catch it means I could lose one of my lovelies, but it also means I don't have to be mean to the villagers I hate, and doing so won't actually help, so I don't feel guilty. c:

I honestly think letting the villagers move in and out as they please, and sort of going with the natural "flow" of the game would be an interesting and fun way to play.

I agree with this!! it would be nice to have some sort of "best friend" option that would let you lock in specific characters. :p Or a "never move away I love you too much" option haha.

I lost Pate because I was playing too much Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon and didn't check to see if anyone was moving. If the game didn't make the ones with high friendship be the most likely to move, then it may not have happened to me.

I don't loathe any villager and don't really understand that, but my favorites have all been itching to move lately. Lolly today. She seemed pretty disappointed when I wouldn't let her, but I just have to realize that she's randomly picked to be the mover and she has completely "forgotten" about it once I tell her no and that is closed off.

I hate it when favorites ask too move.... you don't wan them to move, you want them to stay!
