My town's name is Lobelia and I named it after an all girls school in one of my favorite anime, Ouran High School Host Club. I only named it that because I liked the sound of it, but recently I got the idea to start naming other residents after characters in the show.
What does your town name mean and how did you come up with it?
my first town name, Ivy City, was just one i came up with in elementary school on wild world, and decided to keep it for new leaf.
i hosted contests here on TBT to find the other town names though
My NL town is named Scene 58, after the home "office" workspace I share with my boyfriend. I suppose now I have to make an alt character to represent him
I actually can't remember the name of my first town lol, but I restarted a few weeks ago and my town is named after the show 'Pucca' with my town being named Sooga to represent her villager
My towns name "Flowert" does not particularly mean anything. It is a spin on the town name "Petalburg" in the first chapter of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. That was my favorite game before New Leaf, so I just thought to homage it in some way.
I named my town Sakura because the symbolism of sakura (cherry) blossoms has always resonated with me. Sakura blossoms bloom for a very short time so they are a reminder to enjoy things while they last because life is fleeting.
Aurmont - I wanted to make a very wealthy, city-themed town with a golden area and gold-themed house for my mayor. Aur is Latin for gold, and the -mont was just trial and error with other city name suffixes.
Arcana - I also wanted a witchy, magic themed town, and had recently gotten into Tarot. Major & minor arcana refers to the suits & trump cards in a tarot deck, and the word itself means secrets or mysteries.
So my very first town was Lundy, I was literally just listening to that one forgive song that goes ?Lundy Lundy Lundy? xD
My new main town is L?rien, I always liked the name and it?s also the magical faerie realm in Lord of the Rings so yes
And my secondary town is Aconite which is one of the names for wolfsbane/monkshood which is a poisonous herb used often in magic and that?s why I used it to name my witch town!
I picked Azulon because I love Avatar The Last Airbender and I think my mayor name (Arize) sounds like a Fire Nation name. And I wanted to link it The Legend of Zelda so I have the Bolero of Fire as my town tune since it's fire related. It just seems perfect for me
I named my town Doubutsu, after the romanized Japanese name for the franchise Doubutsu no Mori or (Animal Village). I honestly just liked the way it sounded and related to the franchise itself... So I guess in english I really just named my town Animal, which is about as "captain obvious" as it gets.
I especially like Arcana, Azulon, and Vega, but it?s always neat to see where everyone?s inspiration came from!
My NL town was named Periwink?after the flower and color. Periwinkle is one of my favorite shades of blue, and I thought the shortened form made it sound fun and whimsical.
My town's name is Zhulin. It means bamboo forest in chinese. I named it that because I plan on making it a bamboo forest and I'm taking chinese classes.
