I bought New Leaf because of all the good ratings it got. I played WW and the first game, so it also contributed to my thoughts about buying New Leaf. Why did you buy the game?

I played GC, WW and CF (which I sold my soul to) and once I got a 3DS I knew I was going to get this game. Namely to play with my irl friends and my sister.

EDIT: The Pokemon X/Y promotion also helped influence my decision.

I'd never played an Animal Crossing game before, but so many people that I knew (and whose judgement I trust when it comes to games) kept saying it was good, so I went for it. I definitely had way more fun with it than I anticipated.

I used to play Wild World with real life friends for a few years.
Gradually we stopped playing.
When New Leaf came out last summer I was SO EXCITED, but seeing as I didn't have a 3DS and none of my real life friends were interested in playing anymore (some I don't even get along with anymore), I didn't buy it.
Then last month when the warmer days came back, I kept having this urge to play AC...
Wild World didn't seem "right" anymore.
So I sold some figurines and collectibles I had packed up and didn't use to buy myself a 3DS and ACNL.

Don't regret a thing!

My first animal crossing game I played was wild world, and that was like 7 years ago, since then I was thinking, they should come out with a new one soon. (like how Pokemon does, but I think they overdid it.) also, I seriously debated on getting a 3ds because the only game I was interested in getting was acnl. And it seemed kinda pointless to blow $200 for a game. #poorcollegestudentproblems Then this past Christmas, my best friend actually bought me a 3ds and the game and * ^* my heart was sold. #noregrets

Was an avid WW player, when ACNL came out I had no 3DS and no money but I really wanted to play it with my friends.

Most of them quit a month before I finally got the game haha;

It was because I saw Erik somewhere and I started looking it up and yeah, fell in love with it, and now I got it.

Also because I barely got my 3DS then and I wanted some games besides Pokemon X. Reason of me getting 3DS in the first place was because of Pokemon X (and Ace Attorney but the release wasn't sure at the time so I was doubting it), but now I'm glad I got Animal Crossing along with it because Pokemon X sucked and now Animal Crossing is pretty much what made me think getting 3DS was worth it. And then Ace Attorney came and yeah.

i was rabid by the announcement years prior

i had played WW to death so i was far more than a little excited for it

the hype died down for a while but i constantly mourned not having it yet, and i am glad its finally out and i have four goddamn copies to throw about.
i reserved it about a year and two months in advance. the person at gamestop had told me it was coming out sooner than it actually did >_>; but it was alright, i was brimming with mirth the day release came, because if anyone was getting a copy it was me since id had it reserved for so long haha

I bought it because I have also played the original Animal Crossing, Wild World and City Folk :)

Dose 4 towns doe :3

Good reviews, though I didn't buy it right away. I was sitting at a baseball game at the end of June and checked one of the Nintendo news sites and saw that it was on an Amazon gold box sale, so I bought it from my phone at the game. Since it came in on July 5, I only missed a single day when I was too sick to play. I have never played a game as long or as often as this one, and it's not even close. I think I had 312 hours on Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. I have close to (or over by now, I'm not sure) 1000 hours between my several New Leaf towns.

I played Animal Crossing City Folk and I got addicted to the series.
So I begged my parents to give me New Leaf. After some time, they agreed and bought me the game c:

I also kinda begged my parents xD I got good grades after all, and my parents were like, "Oh what the heck, fine we'll buy you a 3DS and that game."

Because I played Wild World a lot (I don't know why I chose that. Mum said she'd buy me any game I wanted for our holiday so I didn't get bored in the car and I chose that. Good, good choice...) and then bought City Folk which I didn't play nearly as much. I thought New Leaf looked good and I had a 3DS, so here I am c:

I was really not planning to get it. I was pretty disappointed with WW and CF. Right before NL came out I bought the Japanese e+ version for the Gamecube, which is amazing. I decided that was the ultimate Animal Crossing and all I needed. I didn't want another watered down portable version.
But then NL came out and I started reading reviews, and looking at screenshots, and looking at lists of all the items you could get, and all the customization you could do...and I wanted it LOL.
I'm really glad I got it and not disappointed. I have been playing it longer than any game I've ever owned!

I had played Animal Crossing and Wild World an awful lot, so I got really excited when I heard about a new AC and after reading about all the improvements and seeing videos and screenshots I pre-ordered the game right away. :)
