Why did this very awful thing happened?

Kevin was the last person to get a gift. A red warm-up suit was the only one, so I gave it to him and he didn't like it. I gave everybody else the right gift. Did anybody experienced this today?

I did, about 4 villagers didn't like their gifts. I tried again with my 2nd and got everything right. It was weird on how Eugene wanted a lucky gold cat as his gift and he wanted a doll. How is a lucky cat a doll?

a gnome is also considered a doll so the doll thing is really loose

it's impossible to give the wrong gift to just one villager. One other villager must have been given the wrong gift too for Eugene to be unhappen about his gift. Did everyone seem to be super excited and says something along the line of "YESSS!!" or "this is exactly what I want" to you when you distribute the presents?

i was able to give evry villager what they wanted.but yeah that is strange about your villager Mr Coffee.
