Why cant i customize the cute bed?

I have the cute bed in my inventory I just baught it from nooks and then I baught some customization kitts that are also in my inventory when I go to the workbench to customize it I cant customize the cute bed? Why? This has happend to me with other items that come in different hues as well...

You can't customize most items you buy at nook's. You'll have to trade to get the color you want, unfortunately It's annoying for sure.

It's one color per island from Nook's. Theoretically, you could get all color variants from Redd (because he can give any color variant of any item), but considering he has two items every time he visits, plus the fact that he basically shows up once in a never, you're probably better off trading for other color variants.

They sell different colored items, but you need to obtain color variations of those items. It's the same way with most clothes you get in the game. The only items that are one color exclusives are the items you get from your Nook Miles.

You can also get the different color varients by balloons, trees and villager gifts. You don’t have to heavily rely on Redd.
