I was thinking about buying a Wii U, but so many disses and a whopping 300 dollars seems to chase me away.
300 bucks is a lot for a gal going into 6th grade to raise on her own, don't you think? Plus I already have a 3ds, but most new games that I would die for (Mario kart 8, Nintendo land, Mario bros U) are only for Wii U. My friend owns a Wii U, and he states that I should buy one. Sure, it has a touch screen and unique features, but 3ds now have Miiverse and Nintendo E-shop. I plan to use the off-tv plan, because it will be up in my room where I won't bug the ---- out of my parents playing it and last time I checked I don't have a tv in my room. Alas, I ask, why buy a Wii U? (I'm thinking of getting the deluxe set...)

Personally I got one as a surprise gift, and the game selection is getting much better. I'd get it during holiday season, when sales are up.

Also beware; not all games can be played Off-TV, so you may want to reconsider having a Wii U until you can play on a TV. It's really a waste of a console if you don't have a TV to play it on.

Nintendo Land is one of those games. (Most of the time) But if you wait until it's cheaper and have a place to play with a TV, then get it.

You can actually get a refurbished Deluxe set for 200 bucks from the Nintendo shop. Just throwing that out there.

You're pretty safe when it comes to most games being able to be played off TV though. A few downloadable games were suited better to two screens, but supported off-TV that I've played. What the heck can you not play just on the gamepad?

If you like Mario Kart or Pikmin, you will not be disappointed in the Wii U releases for these games. (You can actually buy Mario Kart 8 and get Pikmin 3 for free until July 31st)

Nintendo Land was actually much funner than I expected, especially with friends.

And then of course, there's going to be Super Smash Bros. coming up!

While most games CAN be played on the touch screen alone, if you're buying a wii u with the intention of playing it only on the touch screen alone, and already own a 3ds, you might be better off sticking with the 3ds a while longer. I find a lot of games are more awkward to play on touch screen alone, and if its mariokart you want why not just get mariokart for the 3ds? the big improvement is the graphical quality, but you can really only tell this on a tv.

basically why get a tv home console, if you don't got a tv to play on, maybe you could come to an agreement with your parents for using the TV?

oh also pretty sure nintendo land CANNOT be played on the touch screen alone for most of its games

You should buy a Wii U if you want one.
I bought a Wii U in September last year, and I was pretty dissapointed. The only games that I was interested in was The Wind Waker HD. But now there are tons of new games such as Super Mario 3D World, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8 and more to come this year and next year. There are so many games that I can't even afford them all.
I am really glad I bought a Wii U and it has quickly become my favorite console. I love it.

Thanks guys! It really cleared it up for me! Maybe I can play like 3 good off-tv screen games upstairs, and when my parents aren't downstairs, I can plug it into our old wii's tv downstairs. I wasn't expecting these many comments! I think I'll wait for now, but I'm definitely buying it for Christmas. Feel free to add more comments if you want, peeps!

CAUSE HAVING WIIU IS AWESOME!! said by someone who doesn't own one myself lols~

I was recently in a similar boat! Not the going-into-6th-grade part, more like about to turn 21, but still, similar boat!

I ended up getting a WiiU, and I'm completely in love with it. Being able to play Windwaker from bed is a childhood dream come true. I think it' s such a rad system, I don't understand the hate at all.

I was expecting the Wii U to be complete crap, and to be honest, I'm still not completely satisfied with it. Imo it could have been a little bit more powerful, but now that Mario Kart 8 is out, I've been playing it quite a bit. The game looks fantastic, and plays fantastic. I honestly can't wait for Super Smash Bros. to come out on the Wii U.

It's well worth the buy imo. I've had one since December and it's really fun to play on. The game selection is getting better as well and there are some good games on the eshop for it as well. Made sure to pick up Goldensun and Ducktales the Game: Remastered, and they're both well worth getting for it. They're pretty fun games and the former is one I've beaten before but I wanted to play again and it looks really nice on the game pad.

Because it has Earthbound. :3

Seriously though, because of the exclusives that will be coming to the Wii U in the future. Like Zelda U, Splatoon, Hyrule Warriors, Yoshi's Woolly World, Mario Maker, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Mario Party 10, Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem and most importantly, Devil's Third. Lot of exclusives you can't find on the PS4 and XB1, huh?

Definitely. They've really done well so far. Looking forward to Zelda U, Hyrule Warriors and Mario Maker. And Smash Bros. is pretty high up on my list as well. I hope to get it once it goes on sale. All of these games going at the $60 price point is getting rather expensive.

Splatoon!!!!!! I cant wait!!!!

During Nintendo's E3 the whole time they were showing WiiU games I was like "I don't need it, I don't need it".
Then all of a sudden Splatoon was showed and I was like "I NEEEEEEED ITTTTTTT!!!!".

Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Smash Bros. Wii U, Xenoblade Chronicles, and Splatoon are all good reasons. :p
