Why are your dreamies your dreamies?

It has to be merengue and mirina! Merengue reminds me of my family bc they cook alot and my mom makes my cake every year on my birthday! Also i love mirina bc in nl i was looking at dream towns and saw her on a island! She was cute but i didnt know what dreamies were bc i had no idea hos many cute villagers there were! I got merengue she randomly moved in and someone gave me mirina! Nlg my favs are flurry and flora but there not dreamies bc i would not keep them owo

I think seeing negative posts about Pietro on different websites actually made me feel really invested in liking him. Also, there are some videos on youtube that show him singing and dancing, and if that doesn't melt your heart, I don't know what will!

Most of my dreamies/permanent villagers didn't really start off that way. I didn't actively go searching for any of them, but finding them and interacting with them, we just clicked.
oh my god that's exactly why I love Pietro as well. I saw so many people calling him ugly and it made me sad, and that started to get me to like Pietro sm I think he's the cutest

A lot of them are based on design for me, with a few exceptions!
I had Pierce in Wild World, City Folk, and New Leaf, so my island didn't seem complete without him!
Flora I wanted from the beginning because we share a birthday, and she's just so cute!

All the others were fairly less important to me - I basically wanted to have at least one of every personality, so I picked my favourite villagers from each personality type :)

I wouldn't really call them dreamies, but they are just a couple villagers I have a connection with.

For Skye, she was in my first ever ANCL starting town when they game came out and she stuck around for three years before I restarted. I just ended up liking everything about her--design, etc. But it's mostly just that nostalgic feel I get.

As for Wolfgang (who I do not yet have), he was in my Animal Crossing Gamecube town, and I just really liked him. I was younger and I found his moody insults to be hilarious so he just grew on me.

There are quite a few other villagers who I also like, but they never really had the impact that Skye and Wolfgang had on me, though Audie is getting up there and may join these two soon.

a lot of my villagers I just sort of gravitated towards, I found their coloring/design interesting... I would say its appealing to me probably most of all, and then there are some nostalgic reasons put in there too. I have a pattern of liking orange - brown coloring, and now more and more green villagers since the newer ones don't look so diseased by it lol. I'll go from current villagers to special mentions that would fight to get in if nintendo increases our villager cap (PLEASE)

Tangy - start with my main, favorite villager that will never change. I require her in all of my towns at this point. I just find her mix of design and personality really endearing. I had her in my first Gamecube town, she was the first new villager to move in and I just thought that mechanic was awesome. While some other villagers on my island get some more intricate designs around their house, no other villager gets the distinction of living one space away from my house lol. She threw my bday party about two weeks ago and I about cried.

Timbra - she's always maintained a solid position in my NL town, but NH has really made me appreciate her design, demeanor, and made the snooty character work. Me and my bf have a head cannon of her being this old, posh grandma, who is just really nice and rich and gives advice to all of us/ guides/ mothers us on the island. She threw my bf's bday.

Renee - I usually hate pink villagers tbh, but Renee looks like merengue's cracked out cousin thats trying to get her life together, and the sisterly personality kinda lends to that too. Also low-key think she is lesbian (I'm bi-sexual in a relationship with a guy) and she is our LGBTQ stan. Her letters are by far the best and most irl relatable which got me shook first time i read them

O'Hare - always loved the design, he just looks like a funny guy and his straw boater is a look. He was 2nd fav in NL, but the smug personality got nerfed. It was a tough choice between him and Lopez to leave, Lopez pinged first and I'm thankful for that because Its given the space for me to remember why I always liked his style.

Erik - I had erik in NL for a while, but ultimately dropped him for Zucker (who had a better house and idk his textures are weird now, so he dropped off this list). But now Erik's vibe and style just resonated more with me. He's hilarious and cute, and now lives in a christmas snowy mountain top on my island, so he's never leaving.

Boots - so my fav color is green and the shade of green boots is so pleasing to me. On top I thought his expression was funny especially paired with the jock personality. I don't like too many jocks, I gave him a shot in NH for the first time and I don't think I will drop him from this point on.

Chief - He's been around, I don't think I ever got him in any of my islands from GC to CF to NL. however in the past year and a half I got a german shepherd/ akita mix dog and the closest male resemblance to him is chief. On top of that the personality definitely has grown on me with his style.

Jacques - I had him in NL in one of my towns, and I just loved him being a little DJ hipster bird. The coloring was also striking and unlike other villagers. He currently lives on my island but he might get replaced/ but also come back.

Aurora - currently lives on my island, could possibly switch with Flurry but I don't want to do it at this point. Penguins have the luxury of not having protruding ears and so she looks snatch af in hats. I also had her in CF and always remember really liking her. I have a snowy mountain top in my town rn and she fits in perfectly closely Erik lol.

Olivia, Biskit, Piper, and Kiki - I had all of these as starters in my original GC town (with axel too, but ehhhh) and I would highly consider bringing them into my current town. However due to other personality/ species of each one is already represented in my island and I tend to like to have only one of each species. If the villager cap is increased i may throw this rule out though.

Pierce and Wolfgang - they were my favorite villagers in CF, but that love wore off due to NL - Jock villagers being annoying to me. I had both for a little bit in NL, but dropped them quick. I like the personality a little more now, and would give them a shot, however there are other villagers who beat them out in each species and personality

Poncho, Avery, Lopez, and Bettina - I had all of these in NL, but i think their personalities and designs fell flat in NH upgrade. Bettina had a cute cafe around her house but I got bored of the design and her. Poncho was a starter on my NH island, but I also lost way with him. I wanted to keep him strictly since he was a starter, if Nintendo had put any sort of dialogue or something to honor the starter villagers. I'm actually considering brining back Avery to fill up my double personality

Celia, Julia, Hamlet, Ankha, Vic, Cleo, Cole, Doc, Frank, Keaton, Ketchup, Roscoe, Sprinkle, and Zucker - all of these I have considered or actually had in NL and NH. All could be a possibility if the villager cap is increased, but otherwise is very clearly beaten out by a better villager in their species or personality.

Unpopular opinion - I think all 6 of the new villagers with NH are trash especially at their price point and what it takes to get them. There isn't a single characteristic that makes me want to get any of them. Closest is that Raymond's hair + heterochromia goes along with a genetic condition (Waardenburg syndrome, look it up) and I work in genetics which i think is cool.

Because they ARRR

sorry the title reminded me of the why are pirates called pirates joke

My dreamies are my dreamies mostly bc I had them in an old town orI think the villager is cool asf (sprocket... come on). Theres not much science behind it for me

Dobie- He's a grandpa villager, and I just like all the wolf villagers!
Audie- I love the idea that she's named after the animal crossing grandma.
Dom- He looks like he's always on the verge of tears, which seems funny to me, and he's cute.
Broffina- She isn't very popular, but I had her in my New Leaf town, which is gone now unfortunately, and she's one of my favorites!
Judy- I think it's just because she looks cool, and I have a soft spot for all snooty/smug type villagers.
Sherb- He reminds me of a blueberry!
Kiki- She reminds me of my irl cat.
Zell- He was my first campsite villager, and he really grew on me!
Bob- I found him on a mystery island and got him for a friend, but I've grown attached to him.
Raymond- I just love all cat villagers, I would have an all cat villager island if i could just commit to it!

And I have a bunch more villagers I would like, but the 10 villager limit prevents that..

Hi! I have Zucker if you are willing to trade (idk I you got him yet.) he is not in boxes though, so it may take a while :)

hazel, roscoe, audie - grew on me
roald, drago, zucker - remind me of people irl
colton, lolly, tiffany - like their designs
raymond - no explanation needed

Kyle, Molly, and Bam are definitely my dreamies. They're all from NL, but I simply adore them.

I scanned Molly and Bam in through amiibo, only because they looked cute. But really, I've learned to love them so much! Bam likes to naruto run everywhere now and it makes me smile. Molly is normal so her personality really cheers me up!

However, Kyle is sort of different for me. I was pretty young when Kyle moved in, and I had a slight "crush" on him, haha. But I lost that 3ds, along with the game cartridge. I was devastated. About a year later I got a new 3DS along with another NL. After resetting my town a couple times but having the game for around 2 years in total, Kyle moved by in randomly. I was so happy! The fact that he had returned made him a must have in NH. I can't find him any less amazing! Learning about other peoples dreamies is pretty cool, too! It's nice to see that some less popular villagers are adored.

This would be best represented in a pie chart but I don't feel like it lol

I don't have a small enough list of favorite villagers to narrow down into a set of dreamies for Espera. I went out of my way to track down Rodney because there are just too many smugs I don't like, and I'm waiting on Melba, but otherwise I really like most of my starters and they're part of the character of my island. Among my favorites though - most of them are my favorites because I've experienced them in a past AC game. Rodney and Melba are also examples of this - Melba from WW, Rodney from NL.

I also have acquaintances, like Twiggy, Walker and Gaston from CF, that while I didn't fall in love with them or get to know them too well they've built a positive track record with me and I'm more likely to consider them over villagers I haven't met. I guess it's like in real life, you form connections to put yourself closer to the forefront of people's minds to get what you want from them - in this case, moving onto my island lol. That's why, say, Wendy or Rocco ranks before Rosie or Fang in my mind. The connection is more important to me than the appearance, though the appearance does determine first impressions.

Ngl this is me with Rodney :ROFLMAO: I had him in NL, but I didn't adore him until recently when I needed a new smug and I saw all the Rodney hate that's cropped up all of a sudden

I had an overarching desire to have villagers that are colorful/bright, one of each species, and at least one of each personality. Here's who I have:

Leopold - a smug villager, and my favorite villager out of all of them. I couldn't resist having him in my town.
Pietro - another smug, though being a rainbow sheep I had to have him. He fits in nicely with the color scheme of my town.
Filbert - my only lazy villager, nice light blue color. He has been in every town of mine since City Folk way back in 2009, and so I'm very attached to him. He was the first villager I encountered on an island tour in NH so obv I had to take him.
Sydney - a normal villager, perfectly purple. She was the first koala villager I ever had in AC:GCN and I really missed her so I love having her in my town now!
Bea - another normal. I never had her in my GCN town but she's in a screenshot in the instruction manual and as a kid I always thought she was really cute so I like having her.
Cousteau - my only jock, bright yellow spotted boi. Out of all the frog villagers he is one of my favorites (along with Lily and Emerald) and I've always been a big fan of his design and aesthetic.
Chief - my only cranky, solid orange color. I was iitially searching for Bruce in my campsite but after finding Chief I settled for him instead. He and Fang were two of the first wolves I had in my GCN town so he has some nostalgic purpose, and I wanted to go with a villager that was a color that wasn't already represented in my town (in this case, orange).
Pashmina - my only sisterly villager. She actually wasn't a dreamie at first but after I saw someone giving her away I found out that I really love her design. She is probably my favorite goat villager. I was also considering Fuchsia as my sisterly but at the time I was trying to get Bruce so I didn't get her. I'm really glad I went for Pashmina though.
Pango - my only peppy, a cute combo of dark blue, green and pink. This seemed to be an obvious choice because in terms of color she really stands out from the other anteaters. Plus I'm just a big fan of anteater villagers so she was a must.
Claudia - my only snooty, very nice hot pink and purple colors. She wasn't initially a dreamie but one of my friends had her and he offered her to me. Ever since she's been my favorite tiger next to Rolf and Bangle. I love that she's a hot pink color!

I was also trying to get some villagers that I hadn't had before. Of course about half of these villagers I have had before, but only a few I have currently in a different game. I'm very pleased with this set of villagers so I don't currently have any plans to bring in someone else :)

Marshal: My first dream villager! Saw him in a Miiverse screenshot and thought he was the cutest thing ever. Was ecstatic when my friend let me adopt him in AC:NL.

Diana: Showed up in my AC:NL campsite one day. Immediately invited her and loved her to bits.

Fauna: Another Miiverse screenshot villager. She was adorable and I wanted her immensely. I don't remember how I ended up getting her, though.

Stitches: One of my friends had him. I loved the teddy bear look and that his house was a kid's room. Said friend let me have him, which was super nice.

June: I didn't get introduced to her until the Welcome Amiibo update but liked her instantly. Gotta say her beach house in AC:NH makes way more sense than her office house in AC:NL. Got her from an amiibo card.

Judy: She was my favorite of the villagers introduced in New Horizons. Everything about her is absurdly cute. One of my friends paid 200 NMT so I could have her ;u;

Sherb: I've never been a huge fan of the goats, but he has the sweetest face I've ever seen. I live for that baby-like cuteness. Paid 20 NMT and 2 million IGB to adopt him from someone on here.

Julian: He showed up as my 6th villager in New Leaf. Unicorns are awesome to begin with, but the fact that I got him randomly makes him even more awesome.

Audie: She was a bit of a surprise dreamie. I won her in a giveaway while browsing around trying to fill my 10th spot and she grew on me immensely. She fits the island aesthetic really well, which is part of her appeal.

Raymond: Like Audie, he was a surprise dreamie. He showed up in my campsite, which was really odd considering I already had two smug villagers. Although many consider him overrated, I quite enjoy his design.

I like most if my dreamies purely because they're cute! Though, I've had Butch since City Folk so he's pretty nostalgic.

I have a ton of favorites who I could talk about, but in the interest of brevity, I'll keep to just how I decided on my New Horizons island residents.

My island is based around world history, so most of the residents are supposed to tie into that theme.

Ankha (Snooty): I've had her as a resident of my main, horror-themed town in New Leaf for years, alongside Lucky. I decided that it was probably for the best that I move Ankha out of that town and onto my New Horizons island, to represent Ancient Egypt. Kind of bummed to have to split up Ankha and Lucky, but I don't want to have repeats.

Annalisa (Normal): I've been fond of her design for a while, but never had an excuse to have her as a resident of any of my towns in the past. I thought she'd fit fairly well in this historical island, albeit for a fairly grim reason. I've long felt that her design somewhat resembled a plague doctor's mask, so it would make sense to have her represent that period of history.

Bella (Peppy): I had her as a resident of a New Leaf town but ended up replacing her because someone else fit the town's theme better. I got her for much the same reason as Annalisa, since the fleas that were on mice were responsible for the spread of the bubonic plague. Fairly grim, again, but it fits, and she was the only Peppy that really seemed like she'd fit. She and Annalisa are neighbors.

Diva (Sisterly): Diva is the resident with the least justification on the roster. She is a hangover from the initial "plan" of a tropical theme. She stuck around in the transition from that to world history because, honestly, none of the Sisterly villagers really fit the history theme all that well. On top of that, I just like her design, to be honest. One somewhat interesting note is that the interior of her house has Egyptian items, which makes her feel a bit redundant with Ankha, but in a way it sort of makes me the cyclical nature of things and how some old things become new and popular again in the future.

Dobie (Cranky): Like Diva, he's a fairly loose fit, but I think he works just enough to secure a spot if even just temporarily. He has a very unique elderly design, and the interior design of his house features books, papers, an office desk and office chair, and a whiteboard. I like to imagine that he's a historian.

Klaus (Smug): He seemed an obvious choice, like Ankha, because his design invokes Ancient Rome. Never had him before, he seems neat, and this is probably the best chance of fitting into an Animal Crossing town/island of mine as he'd likely ever have. Figured I might as well go for it.

Pekoe (Normal): She has a fairly adorable design, and I figured she would be a good representative to have for China, which has a very long history.

Sprocket (Jock): I figured that I would be remiss to have a bunch of villagers representing the past without also having a resident to represent the possible future. I really love the robot villagers and have Ribbot and Del in one of my New Leaf towns, and have long intended to scan Sprocket into that same town, but decided that (at least for now) I might as well have Sprocket move onto the New Horizons island instead. It seemed to make sense, since I heard the robot villagers have unique aspects in New Horizons like backlit eyes and robotic noises and I'd like the chance to experience those.

Tucker (Lazy): I had him in a New Leaf town and really love his unique design, but had him move out because he didn't fit any of the themes of my towns. I initially wasn't going to have him in New Horizons either since my first idea for the island was just to go with a tropical theme, but then I came up with the historical theme. Tucker suddenly fit very well, since he's based on a woolly mammoth.

Vic (Cranky): Finally there's Vic. He seemed like a good fit because of his viking design. While he has a cool, unique design, he was never really a villager that was ever going to end up in one of my games because he never fit any themes before, and there are still some villagers who haven't fit any of my themes and who I like a bit better. This seemed like his best chance, so heck, why not.

That's about it. I'm considering the possibility of replacing Diva with Kabuki after I acquire all of Diva's Sisterly-exclusive Reactions since I'd like to have a Japanese-style resident, and kabuki has been around for a few centuries, but I'm not sure yet.

I'm planning to make additional player characters to live on the island to represent more areas and peoples of the world who didn't fit.
