Why are you playing New Leaf?

I missed my villagers! I spent a lot of time trying to get some villagers that have lived in my towns in almost every AC game I've had, and then when they finally moved onto the island... it was like having a shell of them there. Their dialogue had been so watered down that I felt like I no longer recognized them. Fortunately, I still had some living in my New Leaf town, and am happily able to talk to them without them getting annoyed after a few conversations

Also, I realized I had barely unlocked anything in my first playthrough of New Leaf for some reason.

I'm playing New Leaf because New Horizons became such a boring game with the lack of stuff to do. New Leaf has a lot more going on since there is more shops and alot more interaction with your villagers. Sure the customization is limited but still I'm enjoy my time in New Leaf.

Honestly, I miss the public works projects. Just placing objects on the map is obviously superior and unlocking a specific project was painful. But finishing a project felt more fulfilling and like a small milestone for your town.

I prefare new leaf tbh. I like how you can get QR codes without paying for nintendo online, same goes for people visiting. Dont get me wrong, I love new horizens. But if I had to choose ACNL or ACNH I would go for ACNL.

well i still play ACNL and ACWW, because i miss that my villagers is more alive. they just seem to have more soul in the older games. ACNH is great for what it is. grafik is good, villagers is looking good and all that. But they dont feel as much alive as in the old games.
I hope that Nintendo would make the next AC game more in sprite with what AC was about to begin with. Or make a remake of the old games with the option of have the rude and snooty villagers back

Nostalgia and something else to do since outside of work and New Horizons, I got nothing else during this tough time. Plus, New Horizons makes me appreciate some NL stuff more than I use to.

I mainly stick around since I never finished upgrading my house. It’s also much easier to take a 3DS on the go than a Switch.

I got interested in the game after playing pocket camp on my phone. When my phone died due to a water accident...I didn't redownload the game as I don't remember syncing it with my nintendo account. I looked into it and found it was part of a franchise. Since I had a 3ds I downloaded new leaf and I've been a mayor ever since

i recently started playing NL again because i missed the nintendo & sanrio villagers and i ended up playing more often

plus my town is literally empty and i've never done any kind of decorating other than in my house
also i've never completed the museum so i have a lot of stuff i still have to do on the game

I recently restarted my town after I almost completed my town, after 6 years of work :'] But now I'm excited to try out a new theme for my town and get new villagers. It also has so much nostalgia and things that New Horizons doesn't have. New Horizons is a great game, but New Leaf can't be beat. New Leaf's furniture and special characters are so cool and I really miss them when I play New Horizons.

I went to college and didn't really have access to the Switch most of the time, but I have a 2ds so I decided to fill that void with New Leaf. Now I'm taking the semester off and playing both.

I originally didn't even plan to play it, but then I suddenly got it for Sinterklaas in 2014, and 2 weeks later, I randomly started playing it due to the winter break being about to begin, and ever since, I slowly and surely started to enjoy it (to the point where I even got a ton of fish, bugs and fruits in 2015 ), and these days, I still play and enjoy it while I still can

Not gonna lie, I picked it back up a while back because NH just doesn't have the same vibe. It's more of a decorating sim (lacking in items imo but thats a diff convo). Whereas New Leaf you have more villager interactions, such as them inviting you over. or coming over to your house randomly. I actually really liked that.

I love New Horizons, so I didn't go back because I felt like NH was missing something or I was bored. I honestly have always had multiple Towns and being unable to have a second Island was really messing with me, so I booted my 3DS up and figured I'd restart my town in NL to kind of satisfy the urge. It isn't really working well though and I'm thinking once I have the money, I'll just buy a second switch. I'll still play NL tho, because I love all the AC games. I would still play my city folk game or game cube one (or even wild world) if I knew where they were lol

I miss the music, the art style, and the small details in NL. It's just so enticing to me after all these years.
I may put down NH for a little while and play again when spring comes around, but for now, I'm going to try start a new town on a 2nd copy to relive those moments where I felt like I had no worry in the world.

Simply put, more content, better music and less generic dialogue with far more personality and witty/funny remarks.

NH is great for decorating if that is all you care about, but i get tired of it easily.
It can also be quite stressful with all the grinding for materials, tools breaking every second, the tiresome/unintuitive terraforming and the unevitable comparisons between islands (some of which were clearly made by someone with an artistic background or some knowledge on architeture).

Even if decorating is not the focus of NL, you still have a catalogue that is 2x bigger, more house exterior options (like being able to make the house a castle) and some projects that are far more prettier than any furniture i know of (like the Wisteria Trellis, the Statue Fountain, the Fairytale streetlamp, the Tower, the Windmill and etc...).

Personally, i also miss minigames that i can play with friends and several charming characters that got replaced by objects (or that simply didn't make the cut).

I just stared to play new leaf again after like 2 years without playing. I do play NH, but I miss some features that are on NL that NH does not have. Like the town ordinances, and the igloo with the surprise villager. I know NH have campsite but is not a igloo with a pot of soup in the middle like NH. I wish they could allow you to change the outside of the campsite actually. It bring me so many memories, that I don't want to give the game away even If I don't play it too much. I actually have been playing since the game cube and the very fist animal crossing, I was like 12 maybe and those were my good days heheh. I still have the game cube with the game in a storage.

I'm playing because I love the game, honestly.

If I knew where my City Folk and Wild World games were, I'd still play those too. And to be perfectly honest, if my game cube one hadn't broken, I'd even be tempted to pop in there every once in awhile too.

I love pretty much every version of the game, with NL and NH being my favorites for different reasons. CF and WW are really nostalgic for me, which is why they hold a special place in my heart and as for the game cube one, I had it and it was my intro to the series but I didn't play it as often.

ive been playing new leaf since it came out and to this day im still playing it. i play on both my brothers copy and my own, my brother stopped playing a long time ago so he let me do whatever i wanted with his town. i def didn’t restart it because it’s still his, but i was working on the overall theme of it along with my own town. legit i still haven’t even finished designing my own town or his, my town is a pastel cutesy town, and i made his into a natural forest type town. i can’t believe i still haven’t finished designing it but it’s really frustrating trying to get villagers to request pwp’s. i still haven’t even gotten all the pwp’s i need in either town and it’s been almost 8 years now!! it’s crazy to think of how long it’s been, i guess time flies when you’re having fun. i can still say that new leaf is my favourite ac game and it’ll stay that way forever. i continue to play it simply because i really enjoy it and it’s really fun (and of course to complete both towns hehe)

I got a little bored of NH and had trouble decorating but it's a lot of effort to restart and get back to where I was before. I never finished my town in New Leaf and never unlocked everything so I decided to start over with some friends.

Because it's one of the only games out there with almost zero stakes. A perfectly relaxing way to start my day.
