Why Are Villagers Becoming Slaves? o.o

I don't do this, but I don't know. I haven't reset for a plot or whatever, I dunno. There are some villagers I'd like to keep though.
I don't think I've made ANY sense whatsoever. Oh well. :P

Saying they're "just pixels" is true but misses the point. The animals are designed to evoke an instinctive emotional response - big eyes, big heads, toddler-like proportions - and people who have an emotional response to them are reacting quite naturally. We want to love and protect things that look like that, it's why we go nuts over kittens. personally I prefer tarantulas but that's beside the point

If we had a "Like" for postings, I would want to give you more than one.

I find myself loving many my villagers. But now I'm looking at this day-to-day virtual concept as part of the cycle in life where changes happen whether or not you want them to. So, I'm looking to gradually moving out my villagers, with exceptions of Jambette, Scoot, and Drago (and possibly Twiggy) due to them being long-established. And what I would do is take the other slots and move in and move out villagers. (A fifth that I like, Kidd, is one I'll try to keep quite longer as well.)

Wow guys. This isn't just pixels to some people you know.

Trying to make their interior decoration look a certain way; agreed. Jesus, nobody even sees that ****. Who cares? Forcing them to wear certain clothes… again who cares? Just let your villagers wear what they want. They don't look any worse if you love them enough. And as for trying to make their house go in a certain place, I tried that once and I'm glad it didn't work because I hate how fussy I'd become if I could do it.

My villagers and town, personally, is more to me than just pixels. I won't explain fully but whatever, this isn't 'just a game' for some people so I can see why people get annoyed about these things. So yeah, I agree. Jeez guys, can't someone have an opinion?

Oh yes, I must agree with Beffa. I find this a nice game to come to after an annoying day of school work, and talking to the animals makes me feel somewhat happier. It may seem sad, but these 'pixels' are nicer than some of the people I know in real life, sadly.

Exactly. Sometimes I come home from school shattered, tired and upset but… This 'game' is a huge comfort and not something to create even more stress. I understand some people see their towns as art and stuff but come on… Let the rest of us enjoy it properly and stop thinking about everything you can exploit in the game to make it 'perfect'. Jesus.

One thing I would like to say is, please don't compare these pixeled programs, as great as they are, to "slaves". There are real slaves in the world, and their suffering is real human suffering. Auctioning villagers in a video game, where fake money is exchanged, doesn't compare. That kind of comparison really diminishes true human suffering.
That's all
bye

(Sometimes their shirts just bug me though lol)

These two sentences are quite contradicting! In the first, you're telling people how to play their game. Oh, and please don't say you're not. Some people will care what their villagers wear, and what their interior looks like. It's their game, they paid for it, they can do whatever they want with it. If they care, then so be it. c:

Then, in your second sentence, you say: "Jeez guys, can't someone have an opinion?" Well, please reread your first sentence. You'll see the hypocrisy quickly.

As for the pixel ****, I do say they're pixels, because they are factually pixels. Someone may become attached to these pixels, but they are still pixels. Can't change that. Another reason I said they're just pixels is because they are being compared to slavery. Just think about it: Comparing trading villagers in AC:NL to slavery is like saying slavery was never that bad/isn't that bad, because it's being compared to something so lighthearted.

Oh my, more hypocrisy! You're saying to let people enjoy it properly, then you tell the people that want to perfect their to stop. Give me a ****ing break. If that's what they want to do, then again, SO BE IT. Practice what you preach.

I feel very strongly that freedom of speech is important and if somebody feels that trading villagers reminds them of "slavery" then they should be able to use the word. Nobody should be able to force somebody or take it upon themselves to tells other how to phrase things or word things.

Maybe I'm old and impatient...but I am so freaking tired of people for the last 20 years or so trying to make everybody walk on eggshells for fear of "offending" someone.

I sometimes feel that the selling of villagers is akin to slavery. Yes, I said it. I'll continue if I want to. Sheesh.

Usually I'm very patient but I won't tolerate somebody telling me how to speak.

Peace,

Ankhes

This got out of hand. PM me if you want to have a discussion about it though.

Animal Crossing is a video game. Slavery is a real and serious issue.

it was a harmless, adequate metaphor and absolutely nothing to write a novel about lmao.

What I wrote was nowhere near a novel though I definitely could have written one. It wasn't harmless to me, as a WOC with ancestors who have endured slavery. I've yet to see someone prove the metaphor's adequacy but if you can let me know lmao

it's a thread on an animal crossing forum written by someone who probably doesn't know what all the words in your post mean.

I wasn't addressing the OP, I was addressing the person I quoted who, according to their profile is a middle-aged woman. I should hope they know the words I used and if not, I'd be glad to explain them. As I said in my original post, I am aware that it's a thread on an animal crossing forum and apologized for getting so wordy and intense. I've said my piece. But please, if you can find other ways to liken villager trading to slavery, PM me, I'd like to read it and have an actual conversation about it.

Geez guys, I am sorry. It was supposed to be a jokular metaphor! You don't think I know the concern and seriousness of slavery, when my ancestors were slaves? Calm down please...I will just delete this post. I did not know such controversial topics can get people on friggin ANIMAL CROSSING arguing.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make it such a big deal, I just got irritated and couldn't help responding. I'll edit my posts and stew in silence if you like, so the conversation can continue as intended.

Guys, a lot of you are making such a big deal about it >.<
there is no reason to get mad
