Why are Time Travelers frowned upon?..

We should probably do two things.

1) Get someone to lock the thread.
2) Have someone get this in TBT history as the quickest spread debate of TTing in all of TBT.

I want just let this out. It probably won't stop any arguing and opinions but it's worth a try.

People in real life are normally stressed. They have lives, jobs and they are, in many cases, hard at work, with piles of paperwork. For some people, video games is the way to relieve their stress and work. Animal Crossing is a game where you do what you want, when you want, where you want. We have styles of play and what makes us happy to escape from real-world troubles. As we play, we find new ways to enjoy gaming, whether it be cheating, hacking or going hardcore. We become ourselves, and do our gaming in unique styles. We are only trying to get away from work and stress. If we find something that helps us forget all about it, then why should we listen to other people's criticism on styles of play? In Animal Crossing, whether it be time traveling, going in real time, or hacking, you are you, and what makes you happy is all that matters.

I know it is stupid, but I hope that helps us all out. I hate fighting over silly little things, and I just hope what I wrote makes sense. I'm no guru, and I'm not goody-goody. So, just be mature about all of this time traveling stuff!

...are people fighting? I thought this was just a nice, mature discussion. Oh well, I guess I'm misinterpreting a lot. D:

I know it's not my place to say that and I'm sorry, but I think you're a little bit too sensitive over this. If you're ok with the way you're playing, be cheating or not, then whatever, really! It's not because it can be said as cheating that you can't do it and enjoy it. I don't know if I'm misinterpreting you too, but...well, I'm sorry if I'm saying too much. Just relax a little bit more!
As you just said, why should we listen to other people's criticism on styles of play? You don't need to, really. It doesn't matter.

When I started posting here I thought people only wanted to see what other people thought and read different opinions, so I'm sorry again if anyone took it differently.

I will never understand why labels like "Cheaters" is used for using something that is built into the game?

That is like calling people who use the "warp pipes" or "warp whistle" in the Super Mario games cheaters for skipping levels.
or telling Legend of Zelda players they were cheating for changing "day to night" or "night to day".

@Lemons: I think it was because I am sensitive. But I quickly realized we were all basically arguing over nothing. No matter who we are or how we play, we're all friends. I apologize for everything. Like I said, I was never one to take criticism lightly. Of course, lesson learned here.

I know I've been like that and probably because of my older sibling who enjoys insulting me. I've gotten soft because of him. I never took his insults seriously. I mean, he's off to college in August. Wants to get his last kicks in. But when people get into these arguments, I don't think of my bro anymore.

So, to make the long apology short, I'm sorry Lemons, and everyone else. D:

Oh.My.God.

I love watching threads like this turn into a **** throwing contest.

Seriously though, just play the game however you want. As I stated in another thread, no one has the right to tell people how to play the game, or even what's wrong and right. If anyone did, it would be nintendo people. Even then, I really wouldn't care. It doesn't even phase me if a random person on TBT is saying that TT'ing is cheating. Again, if nintendo confirmed it to be cheating, it might be more official. And again, I don't care if nintendo deems it as cheating: If it's how I want to play, then I most certainly will.

One final thought: If anyone thinks they can tell someone what's wrong or right or how to play the game, they need to get their @ss of their high horse.

Don't worry, it's fine! But really, to not care much about what other people think of you or your actions is a great skill for life. Just saying. Had to learn that along the way too. ;)
Anyway, discussion over I guess. I'll stop going off-topic and leave now!

My view . . . not my job to judge, it's a game. My son has time traveled a lot. He's gone forward for years sometimes to see what happens. I remember one time he skipped forward from one New Year's day to the day before the next one. The stuff the villagers said was hilarious--they called him Rip Van Winkle, Asked him if he went down a rabbit hole, if he took a cruise, all sorts of stuff. He considered it an "Easter Egg."

At first, I used to not want to time travel at all. Then I accidentally did it at the end of a month (just wanted to go ahead one day and ended up going back a month). There were surprises. Then I jumped to the correct day and there were more surprises. After that (on ACCF), I experimented around with it.

The stuff my son encountered with ACNL, though was much more creative and fun. So after I find myself getting bored with stuff . . . I'll probably try it.

It's just another aspect of the game.

Yep! I'll go get someone to lock this.

Just wondering but why do you want this locked? I thought this topic was very interesting, you have to understand that not everyone is going to agree with each other, but even if you do disagree to do it in a mature manner. And I'm almost positive this kind of topic will come back within a week anyway, I've seen threads like this before already. Your discussion may be over but there are still more people that may want to discuss it... :)

I time travel but stay close in range. And only when I really need to. On days off when I have more time to play, but never on days where I'm pressed on time. I look at it like a hobby, you do it at your OWN PACE. If moving ahead a little is YOUR PACE then that's perfect for you. If playing day to day is your pace, that's just fine too. But it is kind of weird to frown upon it. What wasted negatively energy that could be used positively playing the game with others!!!
