Why all the hate on the new personalities?

You are contradicting yourself. "Tough girl" and "tomboy"are interchangeable so how can it be a "label" if it means basically the same thing? :3 Even if it is a label it would be a correct one based on what you just said.

Is a tomboy not a tough girl and is a tough girl not a tomboy? Who cares if we call them spongebob as long as everyone knows what the meaning is. This game is taken way too seriously sometimes honestly >.>

I'm not taking the game seriously, first of all. I'm just arguing that I hate labels like "tomboy".

Second of all, I don't they they're the same. Tough is a personality trait. Girl is the person who is tough. Tomboy is the label, Tough girl is describing someone who is a girl and is tough! Seeeeee?

Wow, by your logic, there is no such thing as a personality.

I... don't get this, haha. Ebony was perfectly understandable.

Personalities are something like the MBTI. Which I'm not sure if Ebony agrees with either, but hey. Goths, emo, tomboy., are all labels that are extremely limited in describing the facets of someone's personality. Hence why you have more descriptive things like the MBTI and why subcultures like goth, metalheads and the like inevitably split off (bubble goth, various subgenres of metal, blah blah) because the original label was crap and too self-limiting.

Well look at it this way; look at the other personalities in the game;
Cranky, Smug, Snooty, Lazy, Peppy, Normal/Kind, and Jock. They are very precise, and the term 'Big Sister' just does not fit, because the other ones are down right 'on the nose'. Tomboy fits in much better with the others.

Oh god what's a MBTI I feel so stupid right now I must change the subject

SOOO who's everyone favorite smug/uchi since many seem to like them? The uchis I've had are Paula, Canberra and Hazel. I like them all really (all uchis were really nice to me) but I would just choose Paula because she's the one I have now. Canberra has a cool name and house design and Hazel just really grew in me (that unibrow though).

Smugs I've had are Beardo, Olaf and Jacques. Instantly choose Jacques because he has a cool hat and an awesome house. Oh and Olaf was creeping me out with his constant flirting (I mean, I know it's in their programming but he was really starting to seem desperate. And Beardo barely flirted!)

I don't know why I even came into this conversation in the first place this is ridiculous to me although I can understand not liking certain labels society has created. All I'm saying is that who cares about "labels" as long as it accurately describes something?

Accurately describes something? Not in my opinion, my friend, as you would tell be all of my past arguments!

Anyway, I changed the topic now so we can all shut up about it now if you would like.

tom?boy [tom-boi] Show IPA
noun
an energetic, sometimes boisterous girl whose behavior and pursuits, especially in games and sports, are considered more typical of boys than of girls.

a girl who acts or dresses in a boyish way, liking rough outdoor activities

so you're saying these types of girls don't exist?

I went with the Wikipedia definition, I've never, ever heard the word tomboy being used to define boisterous girls and I have a pet peeve against things being labeled as "usually boys do this" and "usually boys do this". Like, rough outdoor activities. (And can someone properly define dressing in a boyish manner?)

Hey wait, don't I recall you saying that the conversation was stupid and that you didn't know why you joined it in the first place? AHEM.

She's saying it's a crappy description for girls that kick ass but not necessarily relate to sports and the outdoors. See: Female corporate executives, politicians, social activists, women that excel at certain athletics deemed unmasculine (ballet. Which is funny, considering ballet's origin was exclusively male).

For example, a girl may be tough and easily kick your ass, but likes to feel and look sexy on the regular. It's because she has her own actual personality undefined by anyone else but her. She is tough and sexy and happens to be female.

Everyone says they're ugly ;_; they're the best personality and so unique

i think it really depends like in all the personalities, for instance i didn't like julian but i really liike marshal, i think it just suits different animals i guess. also i love uichi's so much, i didn't think there was too much variation between the female personalities but i think uichi's are really unique.

though, i don't see that much hate on those personalities to be fair :c

I just wish there were more appealing designs for the uchi villagers. Quite a few of them look like they belong to a different personality type imo. (Diva and Muffy look snooty, Dierdre and Charlise look normal, and Mira and Shari look peppy imo.) Hopefully we get more in the next game, though.

jocks are the only personality i don't like, and pretty sure smugs are one of the favorite personalities

Yea I know but once I get going I find it very difficult to stop myself...think of it as a ball rolling downhill

Really? That's one of the primary definitions it's been associated with for me growing up so I'm surprised by that. Haven't checked the wikipedia definition of the term yet so I guess I should look it up and get back to you.

Why would you have a pet peeve against that tho? There are things mainly guys do and things mainly girls do so what's wrong with that? If a girl does something that is male dominated than of course it's going to be a lot more noticeable/get a lot more attention and vice versa with a guy.

I am trying to say a tomboy is a personality, and it is better than just saying they are a big sister. There is no doubt that a tomboy is a legit personality, just like goths and emos (Shudder. I hate emos!). Also I hate how people always think goths and emos are the same thing.

This post proves you're super na?ve. "goth" and "emo" are not personalities. Neither is "tomboy" Personalities are complex. Not just based on how you look. Personalities can't be shoved under one label. The only people who put labels on themselves like "goth" "emo" and "tomboy" are #edgy special snowflake middle schoolers.

I love the new smug personality. :) I don't really see myself liking the uchi personality though.

the set of emotional qualities, ways of behaving, etc., that makes a person different from other people.

That's the definition of a personality according to dictionary.com

How can you say tomboy isn't a personality? This proves you're super naive for thinking tomboy ONLY refers to outward appearance. If we are going by the personality definition than being a tomboy would actually fit the meaning better than a lot of other "personalities".

I dislike every single uchi character EXCEPT Anges ... I have Muffy in my town and she is growing on me...
Tammy is in my cycle town and I suppose if I HAD to have an uchi in my town to get the wonderful PWPs and couldn't have Anges or Muffy I would go for her... otherwise... No thank you. I'll do without. >.>

And I REALLY HATE HOW THEY SAY "Made you look" ... no... no you didn't... you didn't point anywhere nor did you even say look somewhere. Urgh. I wish I could hit them every time they say it. >.<

Wow... I joined in at the end of this...

TO ME
emo - personality
Since emo's don't just dress a certain way... they are "emo"tional.

Scene/Goth - NOT personality
These are depicted more by dress rather than their behavoiurs... I mean, I went to school with several "goths" that enjoyed country music and acted like Hicks instead of going with the metal screamo scene.

TomBoy - personality
Tomboy's don't have to dress like a boy to be one... A tomboy can be in a dress climbing trees, catching bugs, picking fights, etc. Therefore, more of a behaviour than appearance.
