Who would win in a fight?

This argument has literally divided my school today. I don't know how it got started, but it did. Teachers got into it, and I spent 4 periods discussing it instead of even starting the teacher's lesson plans. Like I said, they got into it too.

Who would win in a fight? A gorilla (full grown mountain silverback alpha male) or a grizzly bear (full grown alpha male).

I say a gorilla. They may not be as big, (and they are smaller by a small margin), but they have thumbs, they walk upright, and are smarter.

I'm pretty sure gorillas are herbivores.

Edit: Omnivores. But the only non plant/fruit they eat are bugs.

Gorilla hands down. It's faster in small areas, especially where it can climb.

Yes it does. Sure, if the Gorilla was starved it would eat meat but it would die if that were the case.

Not talking about actually eating another animal. But if it's in a more disturbed and upset state, it'll probably act more crazy / desperate.

I still think the Grizzly would win. Teeth... claws...

I'd say a Grizzly. A fully grown Grizzly with its teeth and claws would definitely win imo.

Polar Bear would kill both.

But yeah, I've seen Grizzlies in the wild in Alaska, they are massive. Gorillas just don't seem like as brutal fighters as bears.
