When I first got the game, I let everything come and go naturally. I never stopped anyone from moving out, if the shops closed then I was SOL until the morning, and villagers could live wherever they pleased. Once I figured out I could time travel, that was the only thing I did. I still allowed villagers to move in wherever they wanted and never plot reset. Since I already hhave about half of my dreamies, I don't plan on plot resetting for the others. I also try to play each day in game, but if I feel like I've done all I can for the day and need the shops to bring in new items or juat to bring about a new day, I go ahead and skip the odd some hours left and go to the next day about an hour before shops open.
So I suppose the only "natural" thing about me playing is allowing the villagers to move in wherever they wish.
