I actually really, really fail at poetry. I love writing but poetry is the one medium that I just cannot grasp. It's embarrassing.

...you can't say ****enson?

Er.

Anyway.

I like Goethe, e.e cummings- Shakespearian Sonnets, really just any and all. It's easier to say what I don't like than what I do, and it varies by poem.

oh my- you actually can't.

i love goethe! i studied a lot of his work when i was living in germany

Edgar Allen Poe, Shakespeare, Walt Whitman, John Updike and Robert Frost. When I was younger I loved Shel Silverstein.

My favorite poet would be Poe.
The Pit and the Pendulum is my favorite short story by him (:
Favorite poem by him would be a Dream within a Dream

I've never been big into poetry. When I was in highschool I went through a phase of being obsessed with 19th century romance poets, but since then I've stuck strictly to prose. One of my favorite books of "poetry" I guess you could say, would be The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy by Tim Burton. Here's one of my favorites from that book:

Stick Boy loved Match Girl, he liked her a lot
He loved her cute figure, he thought she was hot;
But could a flame ever burn for a match and a stick?
It did quite literally.
He burned up real quick.

I'm not big into poetry myself - can't write it, and sometimes I can barely understand it. But I do really enjoy the works of Edgar Allan Poe. The first poem I ever read by him was Annabel Lee, in 7th grade. The next year I read more of his work and he was the first poet who wrote stuff I actually liked.

E.E Cummings ^.^ even though I've got a Shakespeare sonnet in my sig =x
Favorite poem from E.E cummings~

"i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear;and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it?s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)"

I'm not a big fan of poetry, but I like Edwin Morgan's work.

My favourite poem was written over 1,500 years ago by Zhang Hanbian.

I like a lot of Emily ****enson, and Sylvia Plath. I also remember reading a lot of Maya Angelou's poems as a child, so there's that.
