White Katana?

The other day I walked into Redd's store, and I saw this white sword. I walked over to it, tapped 'A', and Redd told me that it was the White Katana. I bought it, but now I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't have, because I've heard that it could be hacked . . .

Is this true, and if so, should I sell it to Tom Nook?
