Which would you rather see on a sign?

I would do niether. Polite visitors will walk anyway. Rude visitors won't care if theres a sign or not.

I would personally do something fun or cute.

"Smile"- Have a happy face, flowers, rainbow, or just something nice.

I seen a town that had a fairy garden sign.

One of my towns has a " just dandy " sign with dandilions all around it.

Another town of mine has a " bee happy " sign. It's next to my honey bees house.

Anyway, those are just a few ideas. If you go with the running sign. I would choose " please walk ".

i completely agree with you, visitors either will/will not run, and a sign will not change that. i just think it looks cute lol and adds character my town, and i think I'm gonna take your "bee happy" sign idea haha

I'd go with no running. It's the kind of sign I'd expect to see as signs are usually No _____.

I agree with 'Don't Run', it'll be much easier to read on a small sign...

In my old town I had a "shhh flowers sleepin" sign or something like that, it was pretty stinkin cute!

I think "walking only zone" would sound better than the two you suggested. Then it's not too pleading/demanding

No running for sure, the reasons to prohibit running fit the case of the more strict case. It's not rude my any stretch if you ask me, since it is a semi-commonly used rule and many would understand.

I would say "No Running" or "Don't Run". I agree that a sign isn't going to stop rude people from running, but some people think it's okay to run on paths which is risky if they don't know which way the path goes and you have flowers lining it.
