I've reset my town for the 2nd time, and I'm unsure which layout to choose. I want a right handed beach, 1 or 2 ponds, as much space for houses, projects, etc., as possible, and a river that's more straight than curvy, and horizontal.

I'm considering that layout, since it has a lot of space, but I'm also considering other layouts because I like the horizontal rivers that split the town in half, but that's what I had in my original town, and that's why I reset.

This is my previous layout, which looks really nice, but really has very little space to put things. Basically anywhere a villager moves messes up anything you try to do.
Can someone help me out in picking a layout?

The first picture doesn't really have a lot of space on the let side, for me I like the have equal spaces on both sides. The beach would be awesome for fishing! I understand what you mean about the river, there are so many different layouts you just have to keep trying!

Hm the map you're thinking about almost doesn't seem like a great choice to me, because there seems to be such a narrow space on the left

I had a town like the one you drew only it was reversed.

There wasn't that much room for projects on the small side. But I find all maps to be small. And cramped.
