I absolutely loved acnl and I still miss a lot of the stuff from that game in this game.
BUT i definitely like acnh more. Because of the timelocked events I was never tempted to timetravel and burn out like in previous ac games. I play a little (almost) every day, in my own pace.
Sure, there isn't always much to do. But im creative enough to keep the game interesting, and don't rush to collect everything asap. I like take multiple months/years to accomplish goals.
Because that way I keep coming back to the game a lot more.
Also, the fact that everything is customisable is perfect for me. I donr go all out on extremely interesting designs, but still, being able to make everything my own and according to my taste is amazing. It truely feels like a home to me.
Oh boy i miss torrtimers island and i am hoping something similar will pop up soon in NH at least at some point. Tortimers island was a good feature for online players i mean i could play with pp and not only that i got rewards to buy exclusive things with the Tickets we got, IT WAS SO MUCH FUN and i miss it a lot. I wish we got more online activities or games to do with players, cause every time someone visits i am always scared they will be bored asap, cause there is nothing to do. I am missing more features and furniture but i am guessing or hoping we will get them in time .
I recently went back to New Leaf thinking that since there's so much more variety of fruit, furniture, shops etc that I'd play it more than New Horizons.
However, what I found was that more than anything else, I really missed terraforming and decorating outside! It's something I had always wanted to do in other animal crossing games and the reason I was so excited for New Horizons.
Sure it's disappointing that there isn't as much furniture in the new game, but the new features make up for it in my view.
There are things I miss about NL, and all the other AC games for that matter, but NH is my favorite of all of them. It isn't perfect, but no game is. Every single game had things I loved, and things I wished they had. This one is no different, but I feel this one has more of the things I want than any other game.
Don't get me wrong, I loved New Leaf but in comparison to New Horizons- there's so much more possibility and room for creativity. I would always get frustrated at NL for not allowing me to do things the way I wanted to and the freedom NH gives us is unmatched- even though NL, too, was a 'slow game' I would still lose interest quickly in it. I get so swept up with things in New Horizons and am so PROUD of everything I do because I have SOOOO much say in it. NH is everything NL wasn't for me, and as far as lack of items furniture or clothing is concerned, DLC in the future will cover that I think to keep the game running for many years to come
New horizons definitely! I’ve never really bothered with custom paths and the grass wear was crazy on nl, it’s a silly thing but it completely ruined the game for me
voted NH because there's a lot more to do, but NL certainly has a charm that NH doesn't, I feel bc NL has more of a cozy town vibe and the music is x1000 times better.
New Leaf, Happy Home Deisnger 2.0 is decent and all, but it's lacking in every area, feels extremely rushed, and are missing mostly everything honestly.
Now that I've played New Horizons, I can't see myself returning to New Leaf.
I like that I can play with my Switch docked and enjoy how visually gorgeous the game looks on my monitor. I like that we've been given the freedom and power to terraform and to decide exactly where we want to put the villager houses. These two factors, coupled with the ability to place items outdoors, means we have the ability to create our islands our way. There is so much room for self-expression. Even though New Horizons isn't perfect or complete, I enjoy it so much, and I can see myself playing it for a long time to come. 🏝 ❤
NH looks more graphically appealing. So I will definitely gravitate there. Along with the addition of little features, like fencing, placing objects outdoors, villagers not leaving without permission, and terraforming, I don't think it would be possible to switch back to NL.
My top favorite features about NL missing from NH are:
DJ K.K. / Club. Those K.K. remixes were lit. And the head bobbing was awesome.
Re-tail. Being able to sell fossils to your villagers for 4k-9k a pop was a great way to make easy cash.
Custom Museum exhibits. I've found this to be loads of fund, and I'm sad it's seemingly gone now.
Also NL was better in other ways because:
Although NL's music wasn't the best, it was less annoying on average compared to NH.
Not an island
Villager interaction may have been better then it is in NH.
Leif and Kicks had their own permanent store.
There was no "pay to win" AFAIK... I'm talking about locking us out of certain colors.
Bug Spawns weren't nerfed to nearly 0%
Bank interest wasn't nerfed to nearly 0%
Holidays were there with or without Internet collection, updates, and proper calendar date. I'm not a TT, but the way NH handles this this irks me. I like freedom, whether I use it or not.
I'd have to say NH. I have made great memories in both, but being able to place furniture outside in NH has been absolutely amazing. I mainly play AC games for the design aspect, so being able to terraform + fully decorate the exterior of my town is more enjoyable to me.
The only thing I miss from ACNL is the furniture variety, especially the new stuff added with the amibo update. I had 3 houses to decorate in NL, and even so I feel like there was so many great items I never got to use. Now that we can decorate our entire island + house(s) in NH, I feel like I am reusing the same items over and over. I need more variety!
NH for me, between the two. The only advantage I find NL has over NH is item variety and Tortimer's island, otherwise NH has more pros than cons I find. The biggest pros in my opinion is decorating outdoors, deciding where buildings go and environment customization (placing paths, moving rocks, terraforming).
i have to say it's NH for me. Though definitely has its own flaws, NH showed that nintendo really do hear our feedbacks and have put in numerious QofL adjustments in the new game that made the playing experience very nice. There are certainly features that i miss from NH (PwPs, furnitures, music, perfect fruits..etc) but I find there's sooo much more to do in NH than NL due to the introduction of terraforming and more flexibility in outdoor decorations. Plus, i used think the graphic resolutions in NL is pretty good...until I played NH and am just blown out of the water by the amazing graphics.
Edit: let's also not forget that NH is barely a year old. It also looks like Nintendo plans to introduce additional new features through seasonal releases so it's very possible that some of the shortcomings existing in NH currently will be improved in the future
I loved New Leaf so much. I had 6 towns, and played them for years. However, I choose New Horizons, because we can place furniture outside, create 8 characters, if we want. The graphics are gorgeous, and I like that they give us updates. It makes the game more exciting, and I don't get bored as easily. I think that's why I had 6 New Leaf towns because I would get bored but wanted to keep playing. A new town would always keep me busy for a while. I don't feel the need to do this with New Horizons.
new leaf was ok, i enjoyed it but i feel like it’s in a weird middle ground where it doesn’t have the personality of the older games and doesn’t have the creative elements of NH. so my favorites are WW and NH
