as i already mentioned in the title, im looking for a new 3ds game to play during thanksgiving/winter break once im finally free of studies - i just dont know any promising games to buy bc the last two games i bought were huge disappointments (persona q and luigis mansion). i dont want to end up buying more disappointing games, so feel free to leave any suggestions on what i should buy. im not really picky, but i perfer games that are similar to acnl, rune factory and fire emblem. you can also vote in the poll that i'll be putting up on games that im considering, but new suggestions are great too

tl;dr - im looking for suggestions on 'must buy' 3ds games

games i already have:
- acnl
- the legend of zelda series
- mario kart 7
- the pokemon series
- smash bros
- fire emblem series
- kingdom hearts: dream drop distance
- persona q

If you like the harvest moon series then I would suggest Story of Seasons. Animal Crossing HHA is really good IF you love to designing homes. I bought tales of the abyss a few months back and I did not like it at all. As for the rest I know nothing about them so I can't really give you my opinion on those.

Happy Home Designer!! It's newer and more people are playing it right now.

Hatsune Miku, Lord of Magna and Story of Seasons are good too (I've played Hatsune Miku and SOS, and my friend has lord of magna)

Well FE Fates won't be out until some time next year so can't really vote for that. :/
Otherwise Bravely Default is great.

oh, really? ive been seeing a lot of fe fates thread popping up and i was assuming its already been released. well even if fe fates still gets a high score on the poll, i'll just keep it in consideration for the future

So, you already have a Japanese 3DS, right? Keep in mind that Fire Emblem: Fates isn't even available outside of Japan until the next year, and that the Japanese version will throw you a more complex Japanese for you to read without actually having any furigana. Otherwise, it comes highly recommended if you liked Awakening, since Fates plays very similar to it, albeit with some gameplay modifications and added features. Heck, it might be your safest bet out of the bunch.

Kid Icarus: Uprising is surprisingly a great game to try it out, despite the controls taking some time to get used to, more specifically finding the best way to hold both 3DS and stylus without giving yourself too much hand cramps. You don't even need the stand to enjoy this game. The game doesn't take itself too seriously, as you'll find plenty of hilarious lines in the meaty single player campaign. And the multiplayer mode doesn't disappoint, too!

Is your 3DS model part of the New 3DS line of models? If so, then Xenoblade Chronicles 3D is definitely a must play, provided you haven't played the Wii version beforehand. Not only the story and characters are engaging enough, but many of the landscapes are breathtakingly engrossing to witness. The MMORPG-like gameplay with more thorough mechanics also warrant a good degree of complexity in battles, therefore giving multiple ways to decimate your foes. It's one of the games that will last longer than 50 hours just to finish the main campaign. No RPG fan should miss this game if they can get it at any given time.

I have nearly everything in the poll, and I can say that they are all great choices. It really boils down to what your preferred genre is. Mine is RPG, so to that end I say Etrian Odyssey (Millennium Girl and IV are great, Mystery Dungeon is....different but fun), and Bravely Default.

I also recommend Shin Megami Tensei IV, especially if you like a challenge, because that game is HARD.

I own a copy of AC:HHD and I have to say that I wouldn't recommend it to you if you are looking for a game which you want to play for a long time. I got nearly everything after two days playing the game (and I didn't play it all day long, just a few hours). It's really nice and great if you're into decorating houses, but it's just no game for hardcore gamers. I've played Bravely Default (I had to as a huge fan of the Final Fantasy series) and I really loved it. There are many things to do (it's definitely not getting boring after a few hours), many sidequest, a nice story, great music,... I would go for it!

Haven't played it, but I've heard Eterian Odyssey is good, also Braverly Default although I didn't likeed it after playing the demo and quite a lot of people are complaining about grinding after abou 2/3 of the game.

I'd definitely recommend Tales of the Abyss but I do have a huge bias towards it (and Tales games in general). The battles are in real-time and they're like.. pretty simple compared to games like Fire Emblem so that might be a problem if you're into more complex/strategic combat in your rpgs. There's dozens of hours of gameplay if you do get into it, though.

FE fates or Bravely Default. The Legend of Legacy looks good also its by Atlus so you can't go wrong with that.

Also I don't know if you've heard of Yo-kai watch but it comes out in NA and Europe next month and from the looks of it it's basically pokemon with a more Studio Ghibli-esque art style.

I'm pretty sure they haven't announced Yo Kai watch for Europe yet and it seems like it's not gonna be released in

I picked Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer because it's the only game you had in the poll that I've played/am familiar with. I have 2 game suggestions that you don't have already and are not in your list of titles you're interested in: Harvest Moon Tale of Two Towns (if you like the Harvest Moon titles). And if you want a game that will keep you busy for a while, Fantasy Life, I've put almost 200 hours on the file I have open - and I'm finished with the storyline part of the game but I'm still working on side missions.

...2015. I couldn't finish my post, because my keyboard disappeared...
Yeah, I'm stalking all info on Yo-Kai watch as I really want it ;) it's due to release in NA & Australia, no word about it being released in EU apart from "to be confirmed" and "2016" on Yo Kai Watch wikipedia page... :(
