I reset my town the other day, and I told myself I was going to put down paths whenever I got around to getting the QR machine. I have my paths on my 2nd character now, and I just realized I have no idea where to put the paths. I honestly didn't think once about where the paths will go, so now I don't know where to start with these paths.

hold on
first things first
change the diagonal bridge to a horizontal one or your patterns will look p weird

My method was to play the town a bit, say a week, and you'll notice directions you go regularly. For instance to get to the shop from my house I'd always go a certain way around a villager's house, so I'd start building paths from that.

But it is greatly a person preference, there is no "wrong", "correct" or "perfect" way to start path making.

I just started my path building today and tbh im going just sorta of randomly and in the end you can always change a tweak it a bit if you dont like it!

Yeah I really don't like the diagonal bridge, I was planning to change it to a horizontal one but I don't have enough bells yet

It's best to place paths where you would normally walk. Otherwise you may end up ignoring them.

I've noticed visitors are more likely to walk along straight paths (rather than diagonal or arched.) Which is another thing to consider.

I had two towns and for both I did a main street down from the station, then split it to a separate paths connecting all the town buildings, event plaza, my house and houses of the villagers I intend to keep in town. You just have to find straight easiest ways to move around your town and put the path there. It'll help you to run around your town faster not worrying about ruining the grass or flowers. You can also make a park with alleys and connect it with your main road system.

Here's a suggestion in the picture below. :) The red squares are where I think the police station and caf? would look nice. I also agree with the person who said to replace the diagonal bridge with a horizontal one.

I usually just notice where I tend to walk most often when walking around town and lay paths there. I start by connecting important spots I go to very often, like public buildings and my house, then I work on paths around the villagers house. The reason why I tend to try to place them where I find myself walking a lot is because if walking through a certain route is more intuitive for me, it seems pointless to place the paths in a way that I won't have the patience to stick to them while walking, unless I can't because of rocks.
