Where is tortimer???

a lot of our old favorite characters were sadly not included in new horizons, and that includes old mayor tortimer :'(

what do you all think he's doing now and do you think there is a possibility he may be featured in some way?

He could be dead. But I mean, turtles live a long time though...so he could still be alive.
maybe we will see him in the future in Tortimer island.

i mean im really hoping theyll bring back tortimer + tortimer island to improve online play. especially since we have to pay for it now

but i honestly really just miss the gag lol. like hes been in every animal crossing game if im not mistaken? (besides NH ofc) so i like to imagine he's just too busy managing new leaf's tortimer island or he was setting up a new tortimer island for NH but since he's a slow turtle he couldnt get it done in time for the getaway package (lol corny i know)
or maybe he's decided to take up the mayor role again and he's governing his own island!! that would be sick. an island full of just turtle villagers. could also bring back digby as that island's 'secretary'!

You would think that an iteration of Animal Crossing that centered around islands would bring back the NPC who owned an island in New Leaf...

Irony aside, I think there's a pretty good chance that he'll return for some kind of event in the future, especially since he fits so well into the island theme of NH already. We've already seen Rover, Reese, and Cyrus return for some kind of event, all of which are characters that appeared in New Leaf, so I think it's only a matter of time.

I remember before NH came out, there was a photo of one of the DIY gravestones, and someone said that it was hinting at Tortimer being dead lol

Personally i think he is not dead, and that Tortimer's Island will come back. None of the other NPCs seem to age so why would Tortimer

I personally believe that he is dead. Sure, turtles and tortoises live a long time but he’s been an old man since the first game. One of my favorite YouTubers made a zen gravestone for him near the beach lol

To be fair, you're not paying for Animal Crossing online, you're paying for Switch online, which includes all games, and all of their online features + the included SNES and NES games.

Canonically, Tortimer is being held hostage in a room behind that one door inside Resident Services.

I miss him as a mayor though, I hope Isabelle lets him go.
