Where is everyone?

Yeah I’ve done most of what I can do in the game by now, except landscaping my island and I flat out suck at that. I started up some other games and it’s kept me from playing AC quite as much, and I haven’t even broken quarantine yet.

I've had to ease up on my playtime because I got a job and have been too busy working to play as much as I've used to. I haven't really been playing any other games because there haven't been any cool releases lately (I don't own a PS4 so no Last of Us 2 for me), but I still love the game as much as I did at launch so I don't really feel burned out with it.

Like someone else said, the game's player count peak was definitely at launch because of the circumstances, so I'm not surprised by the dropoff. I've been using stuff like r/NoFeeAC and Nookazon if I'm trading or looking to give something out since those communities are still very active. I mostly just use this forum to casually chat about the game, and it's great in that regard.

Yesss before it was really active actually but now it really slowed down, guess the hype went down now and some of the players who are new to the animal crossing series that tried it out and had fun on the first weeks or so probably already left and moved on to another game, kinda sad tbh, the airport and dodo forums kinda popping with new post every so often before but now its barely even getting new posts...

Could some of the slow downs on things like trades also be because as people progress in the game they naturally acquire things they might have wanted to trade for before? Extra star fragments, all 5 fruits, furniture and clothing items esp, but even to some extent villagers, since it seems like a good portion of people get their set of preferred villagers ASAP and then keep them forever.
For my part, I’m new to this game and am not feeling any loss of interest, though when I have to go back to the office my activity level maybe curtailed somewhat.
However, if any one is looking for someone to talk to on here, I’m around, invested, and am loving acnh. It’s like the game I’ve been looking for my whole life and I feel robbed that past me missed out on the earlier iterations ;)

There's really not much to do with the very limited amount of items.

People are sick of scrolling the boring list of wooden DIY's, and I'm sick of crafting.. period.

They really need to add all the NL items, RV included and the food.
Then we would have some decent furniture to work with, instead of an item list that's taken up with limited color variations of the same thing, and way too many clothes and models.

Clothing and bug/fish models are probably two thirds of the catalogue.

That's my opinion on why people are losing their enthusiasm.

I’ve been playing ACNH everyday since I got it. I play in the morning check turnip prices shop at books/able sisters and play in the afternoon/evening when my hubby comes home so I can shop on his island. I do admit I’ve been a bit distracted by the Pokémon shield DLC. But I still make time for my island and the forum. I’ve never really done much trading though but I should try soon. I have some extra DIYs taking up space

i stopped playing for like a month... not because i got bored but because i got really discouraged with my island :( plus the events are boring.. but lately i've been trying to look at more island inspo to get myself to play again

personally, i think btf has an older audience and rn there is a lot of rightful civil unrest and collective trauma amid a global pandemic. most of the folk i know are just worn - there's so much we're trying to do. you take your escapes where you can get them, but acnh is just not a priority over antiracist work, so ! balancing spoons, you might say.

also tbqh, acnh does not feel like a complete game lol

Personally I've lost motivation for a lot of things I like and have been sleeping a lot instead. I think also being discouraged yet amazed by other's islands is what sort of prevents me from picking up the game, but now that I have a good plan for what I want to do I feel more motivated.

this is actually what i've been fearing would happen :c i just got the game recently since shops were closed during quarantine in my country, so i've only been playing for a while but it seems like a lot of people have already moved on from the game by now.. good thing there are still people willing to trade and sell items

I'm honestly playing less because since the lockdown ended, both school and work started again, friends and lot of more stuff is keeping me busy but i always find 20/30 min for a quick ride of my island, i just have less time for the online (which honestly, need a LOT of time)

Personally I’ve just been playing the game a lot less. I use to have my island open all the time for villager crafting, shopping etc. But these days I rarely boot it up for more than maybe 2 hours a week.

Since I got all things in game, and game time already over 1300 hours. Don't know what to play..
And real life has been too busy, rarely checking TBT now.

I honestly expected the game to keep it's popularity up for months after release. I'm surprised and a bit sad to see people getting burnt out from playing already.

This isn't necessarily a bad thing. I think everyone, eventually, play AC bits, bc you'll eventually have less things to do, and it's been like that since the early games. AC is a game you can play lots, stop playing altogether, and then resume months later. I'm playing less now, but I'm already planning to rearrange new bits in my island. Also, since we're (probably) close to a new update, that'll probably bring more people back into the game.
