My town is nowhere near complete, but I have so many ideas I want to act on after I get my golden watering can. I've seen a lot of nice towns both in blogs and in people's dream visiting videos on youtube. Do you have your town just how you planned it? How did you decide what to do with your Public Works Projects and paths (if you have any)?

My biggest dilemma is what to do with all my flowers if I chose to put down paths. About 70% of my town (not including what's being taken up by buildings that I have no control over) is covered in flowers. I just downloaded a game for my tablet today that lets you just create gardens, so I'm hoping to gain some inspiration from playing that game for a little while. I'm going to have to do some serious PWP moving/demolishing before I can get to that phase of development, though. I kind of just threw my PWPs randomly just to get enough to make my villagers happy. If I used my current placements of all of my projects, I would be very limited in space for gardens, which I'd prefer my town's focus to be.

I just rerolled my town for the...3rd(?) time now, I think. I'm really picky with layouts and villagers haha.
My last town i feel was a little more planned out, but this new town... I have a ton of space and a nice map, but I'm actually completely unsure of what to do with it!
I've sorta been laying down random patterns here and there, and planning things out as I go/unlock projects.
For flowers... I have no real set plan. I haven't laid many out yet in my main areas because I've been trying to make a few villagers move lol.
I find that any inspiration I've gotten has been from a lot of japanese dream towns. A lot of them are ridiculously elaborate, and help give me a little more insight as to what I'd like for my own town (:
It's daunting at first, starting without paths or anything... but you'll get there. Don't feel overwhelmed :>
If you feel you're lacking too much space wise for your flowers... You could always try to tear down some projects to make room, and maybe move them? (Except for buildings obviously)

My town is not planned. I just work with what I was given. I did not cut down any trees to make way for my paths because I like the natural look and feel of things, so I kept my path narrow and winding. I do not want to turn Zingzang into a town with a city feel, with wide streets and carefully placed bushes to restrict movement. I prefer to roam, to feel like it's okay even to veer off the narrow stone path sometimes, I like that sense of adventure. To that end, the flowers in my town are everywhere, they are not meticulously grouped in manicured gardens. Every morning, I look forward to wandering all over my village to water my flowers, I never tire of looking for them or at them.

As for PWPs, I am waiting. I have built the geyser I wanted, now I'm waiting for the hot spring to be suggested and the topiaries to be unlocked. Which means I have to wait until April! It's amazing how much patience I have when I play games. In real life, waiting drives me crazy.

I find it a joy to visit Japanese towns that have been completely made over, with every square tile of the ground accounted for with custom designs or rare hybrids, every room in every human character's house meticulously furnished with complete sets and rare items. They are the complete opposite of what I do for my own town and, I think, that's why I enjoy them so much. (I know, that sounds contradictory somehow, I can't explain it either. :) )

It's best to start on the path early as possible. Then you can start planning out more things easily.

I took the inspiration for my town from David Lynch movies, and 1950's kitschy "exoticism." I'm also inspired by places that I go in the Dream Suite- I love to see how other people plan or don't plan their towns. There's something interesting to be found in all of them.

I just lay things out the way I feel looks good, that I'm happy with. I can visit some dream towns and get some ideas or look at certain public works projects. However, I just go with the flow! I put my path down as soon as I unlocked the QR machine. Planted flowers everywhere, organized the (Kinda, its still a flowery mess haha)
I feel like my town purely does depend on public work projects, as I want it to be Japanese. :s
