What were things you misunderstood or were confused about?

I thought a facepalm was when you put your palm on the other person's face.

I thought FTW meant WTF, but backwards (Phuck The What)

Well, for quite a long time, I thought all a computer could be used for was, playing Sims and Club Penguin(my igloo was awesome, BE JEALOUS and my puffle's name was Lola so yes, you should be very jealous :P ). And I will admit, even to this day, I have to google what a bunch of acronyms are. Even today, I had to search what "hmu" meant. I will never understand the internet's language. Oh how it confuzzles me....(and I still don't understand the general "txting" language...)

When i was in love with Pokemon, and when Youtube came on at the same time, i didn't know what youtube was, but i typed in "Pokemon theme song" hoping to find the youtube video from smosh because I was in love with that video.

+1 on ftw being wtf backwards

i was confused as to why my parents still had dial up

i'm still confused as to why people pay for WoW subscriptions.. i mean, really.

Hmm, I remembered that when I used to play Habbo, I was scared to show my Mom the speech on habbo since I thought words like lol, omg, brb, g2g, ftw etc were bad words :p

I could never remember what acronyms stood for
and I used to think that 4chan was some almighty forum about video games and all sorts of good things (oh god, I couldn't have been more wrong)
also like in 5th grade when my friends told me about youtube I thought it was spelled "utube" and I never was able to find it xD

also I UseD 2 typeee liek disSsS :DDDD !!!!

I was scared that everyone was out to get me. Seriously, and the stalker didn't help either. (Any of you remember him?)

i thought ftw meant $!"?$ the world, i talso thought cp and sims were just for the comp :P and my first internet provider was AOL, Yes feel pitty for me! now im with bt :D

I've been on the internet basically all my life, we first got internet when I was 7 years old and I got my own computer when I was 8 years old, back then there wasn't much on the internet to be confused about, before the age of memes and such. Though censorship did confuse me, I always wondered why people were typing "@#!$&" etc.

I still feel pity for you. BT is just as bad as AOL.

Lol double post because I was too lazy to condense it into one post.

I used to spam gifs as my reactions to posts on other forums. Now I do that on tumblr.

yahh boot i got fibreoptic, fastest in the world :D

Fibre optic is just a form of getting the internet to you. In most cases, it's not even fibre optic the entire way, it splits half way through to regular transfer. Just because you have fibre optic doesn't mean you have fast nor good internet.

I also thought ftw meant wtf backwards :P

I was always worried about viruses, and thought anything would cause them. I also thought that if the computer got a virus robot claws would come out of the computer screen and try to kill me o.O

All I used the computer for was to play games, and got confused when they had age ratings. And you know how sites say, "Please put your parents email here"? I did that because I was afraid they would figure it out if I put my own.

Also, when I got my first email address in the 3rd grade I emailed all of my teachers I ever had since 1st grade and told them things like, "I GOT AN EMAIL ACCOUNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!". They were fairly nice about it, although looking back at it it was pretty foolish, but funny xD.

Oh, I just remembered that when I was about 5 or so, I heard my brother asking my parents if he could get a neopet. I thought they were real animals, and I asked, "Wait, would it get along with our cat?"

Played Habbo 48/7 and though that ftw meant *** the what. Also downloaded everything I found, didn't have permission. Almost downloaded a virus..

I... I can't remember my first experienced on the internet. It's been that long, yet it's only been about ten years.

When I really got involved on the internet, it was the Nsider forums.

I just loved learning a lot of basic things like how to post images and other things like that.

The culture itself was so rapid so vivid, it utterly confused me with memes I knew nothing of, and changed so fast, it was just a bit of a rush for me.

It is because of things like the simplest of code lines that made me feel like a wizard, it was and is in its own right a form of wizardry.

Whenever you here about wizards, it is using their own words in magic items and books to cast spells, it is so damn reflecting of computer science that it enticed me into it. I'm at the point where given time I can make worlds. That is cool and all thanks to simple things like forums that introduced me to all computers can do.

I've been on teh internets since I was four years old. I even played Neopets. Nobody ever stole them. I also played Pokemon for about six years of my life and I know all the Pokemons except for the new ones from black/white.

I've pretty much just learned how to use computers by myself over the years.

Hahah, ohhh this topic is bringing back memories.....

1.I thought FTW meant Fight the walrus...

2.When I first started using the computer, my biggest issue was not closing the previous page and having to search for where the noise on that page was coming from LOL!.
