I am from the Southern Hemisphere, and I heard that for those in Southern Hemisphere we would have mushroom spawn in May, and during this time we would find Mushrooms recipes, but I’ve never seen mushroom or recipes for any of the mushroom items, so perhaps I heard wrong? Does anyone know during what time mushrooms will spawn?

It looks like they spawn close to trees. Do you have very few trees? If so that may give them less chance to spawn.

To add to this, make sure your trees actually have space around them. Mushrooms won't spawn on patterns, flowers, or items. I'm not sure if they can replace weeds or not (I doubt it).
They should be spawning right now. I'm in the SH and they're everywhere on my island. The recipes come from balloons though you might be now fighting with the maple leaves recipes.
Do they only spawn on hardwood trees or on pines as well?
I wanna say hardwood only... correct me if I'm wrong though!
Okay, that makes sense I mostly have fruit trees and pine, so I’ll be needing to plant some of those

Mine were spawning on the cedar trees. I don't have any hardwood in my town, but there were none on my fruit orchard trees (about 30 of them).

I’ve had mushrooms all May. My island’s pretty filled with them at the moment, since I don’t pick all of them up lol
Really? My sister and I both have had no luck with mushrooms. Not even on the few trees (excluding fruit) that I have in open areas. Are they easy to spot?
