I'm wondering if it depends on if you said good bye to them while they're in boxes? So far every villager I've said bye to has left something.

Gloria - Garden Bench (wish she woulda left me one of those green streetlamps... lmao)

I don't remember them all but Kyle left a grand piano and Elvis left a Pisces lamp so that was nice lol.

I don't remember all of them, but I do remember Zell left me his Cityscape Wall which can otherwise only be obtained from Saharah, so that was nice of him.

Maybe it's random, or friendship based? I've had it happen sometimes and not others.
I miss their little goodbye letters. I used to save those to track who all had lived in my town.

Tex left his drum set when he left. I can't remember if Twiggy left anything, I'm not sure she did

Roald left the ice sculpture and a shirt I gave him.

Most of the others have left the clothing. I haven't had any real "wow" items from them. I do remember hoping for the wood burning stove from Lopez, but he left a microwave. I think he knew I wanted him gone.

I don't know about basing it off friendship levels, but I got a Virgo harp. I already obtained his photo beforehand.
