Whoops I kick people out with the - sometimes. If I've had a lot of people over & the last one is there, I'll just end so I don't have to close my gates. I've never had a glitch yet.

Maybe I should just let people leave on their own?

I had no idea that people saw this as rude, I almost always end with - after a visitor, especially if we're not particularly near the airport. I'm very sorry if anyone I've ever traded with or had over has felt like this was rude, I always just think it's convenient. I try not to be too abrupt with it, always ending with a "thank you!" and "have a nice day!" before ending, i didn't know it was considered rude.

I’m just not used to it. Someone “-“‘once and I was mostly thinking wether I did something wrong. I did almost run over their flowers before I caught myself and remembered. I’m generally a go with the flow kind of person and most people prefer airport from my experience. I usually just prefer to do trades on my Island because I really don’t care too much. I won’t “-“ people but if they want to leave that way it’s up to them. I also don’t go very far from my gate so it’s not too much trouble to go and close it.

Hey all, I just wondered other people's thoughts on being sent home with - after a trade. It just happened for me and thankfully nothing glitched. I don't believe that it was done maliciously by the other person (all I was doing was dropping off some free hybrids) but it did feel really abrupt and if I am being totally honest, it kind of hurt my feelings.

I understand the benefit of being able to end a session quickly if someone is being a nuisance but are there other benefits?

What are your thoughts? Is it bad form? Totally acceptable? Do you use this instead of waiting for them to exit via the airport?

I do this frequently and didn't realize people could be offended by it. I close a trade using the minus button because I often do one trade at a time, it closes my gates for me (I close after we say goodbye/thank you). If you don't close your gates and you are on internet and you turn your switch off, you lose all data up to the last autosave. I had this happen to me a lot because I would forget I had to manually close my gates, so for me its more efficient to end via the minus button. Especially if I'm in a hurry. I'm not doing this with malicious intent, and I thought the corrupt save file glitch only occurred if you were the visitor leaving an island, and not the host ending the trade.

It is pretty rude if it's abrupt. But if they tell you they're going to end the session, then I think it's fine because it's a bit more convenient for the host. I personally don't use this way, cause I prefer people leaving through the airport. I've only used the - button to end when we were having technical difficulties. I think either way is fine though, as long as both parties know they're done.

It depends really! Usually with bigger groups it doesn't tend to happen as often as glitches are more prone to happen then, but other than that fortrading I'm totally fine with it, either that or I'll just leave via the airport; whatever the host prefers <:

I let a mass of people come into my island to trade their turnips yesterday. I spent about 4 hours letting people in and out, so I was using "-" to end the session once a group was done. The only thing is, everyone knew I was going to end! I very clearly specified once everyone was sitting in the waiting area I made, I would end the session. I do think it can be a little abrupt and I would 100% be taken aback if it wasn't expected. I don't really think it's rude though.
I actually only had a problem saving when someone left quietly. Someone left quietly and the game rolled back to when before the group had sold their turnips... In 4 hours, only one person did this, but boy was it a pain to hunt everyone back down and make sure they sold their turnips okay.

If it's just one person, I'll usually head back to the airport with them. Most people I've traded online with prefer to head back to the airport, so I'll just follow along with them. If I'm playing with my boyfriend, I'll usually waddle back to the station with him. It makes saying goodbye and heading off a little easier!

one time i accidentally kicked someone out using - and i’ve been thinking abt it ever since LOL i am so sorry if ur out there but idk i feel like i have to wait for them to use the airport just cause it’s not as rude but sometimes i find myself trying to terraform and i forgot i still have the gates open and i have to run all the over. yeah idk

ahhh, personally this isn't really a big deal to me? in the beginning, a lot of people did this to me after trading (before we knew of the minus button glitching) and i never took it personally since it is more convenient. most people don't do it anymore, but whenever it happens now, i just assume that the person doesn't know about the glitches or they just want to go back to playing.

if i'm hosting, i never hit the minus button just so nothing glitches out.

It honestly really bugs me - not only because of the glitches that had been going around (rumored or no) but also like... 90% of the time I'm literally in the airport when I'm kicked. It'd not like I'm running willy nilly all over the island, clearly I'm leaving. Almost every time someone has used "-" it has felt abrupt and rude to me :/ I've done what I think is a lot of trading and only one time did someone say "I'll end" and I was like cool, thanks! I understand it is more convenient and I can't even tell you how many times I've forgotten to close my own gates and get rolled back, but it really does irk me when people kick me out that way haha OTL

This was my practice on New Leaf whenever someone visits my town but I always make sure that we say our goodbyes before ending the session. I feel like it's not proper to end it like that without letting the person know. Right now, I refrain from doing it due to the possible glitches that might corrupt your saves so I'm playing it safe and always tell them to leave via the airport (of course, after saying bye-bye lol). If I'm the visitor, I don't mind though, whatever they want to do, as long as I'm done with my business there.

I dont mind it. People in nl used to end trades by using a similar method, they didnt make you walk to the station. I was also surprised when this happened during my first trade in nl because i did not know how trades went, but i just went with it and started using it too. I usually tell the other person that i am going to end the session or something like that. Because there is fear of losing saves due to glitches in nh, i think it is better to ask the other person if it is okay to use this method or if they rather use the airport, but i understand wanting to end trades fast and opting for the other way.

it's happened to me a couple times when trading and it does feel a little abrupt if they don't warn you because most of the time i'm already in the airport about to leave anyways lol. but it is an easier way to close their gates so i do understand it.
when i let people come to my island for trading/diys/anything else i always just let them leave via the airport. the only time i actually use the - is when people come to buy something from my redd's as he's all the way at the back of the island and i don't want them to have to run all the way back to the airport. i let everyone know though ahead of time that i'll be ending the session if that's the case.

It’s nice when you have a lot of people on the island, because then nobody has to sit through a million “so and so” is leaving screens.
