The most time I've plot reset is 1 and a half hours, but I just watch a show or something, so it doesn't seem really tedious to me (tip: pressing the 'b' button when Rover is talking chops the time on the train down to ~30 seconds). Whenever I get a villager I really like with a great spot placement, I gasp, haha. Today on my third reset (having 8 villagers, resetting for a random villager), I got Willow, a dreamie, moving right next to Cousteau, another dreamie. Best part was, she moved exactly three spaces to the right of him, and straight across.
I only plot reset for a very short time, I settle for anything that's not a bad spot, but now I'm letting Pashmina go and I want the next villager to go in the exact same spot she was and I bet it's going to take agessssssssssssssssssss
Well it's easy to create a new character and run to see where they've plotted but if you do it for hours and they just move in the worse spots I guess that's the hard part, I've plotted for 2 hours before because that's my limit and I get really distracted in the end I end up liking there spot so for me 2hour plot resetting is good enough or less is even better!
I had quite a lot of luck with plot resetting, for Rosie, Maple and Bob I managed to get them all in place on the second try. But for Beau it just took hours and even now he's one square out of line with maple and Bob it drives me absoloutely mad, it's just not bad enough for me to let him go though. But I wish I'd persevered a little longer, just for the sake of a square. Since beau moved in I placed a lot more PWPs so there isn't much option for villager house placements now so plot resetting is always easier.
It did also take hours to get fauna in the same spot Erik used to be in though....
in my newer towns i've just plot reset enough to not have them in the way of stuff, like on top of an already finished area or just in front of something. i can't be bothered to plot reset for a perfect spot haha it takes wayy too long
The longest was 1 week. I felt like I was running out of time because villagers get the inkling to move on the 5th day and I wasn't sure on the move out rules for plot resetting. I tried to get Felicity to move to a spot that several other villagers had been in. It was AGONIZING; I would play the whole day. I'd wake up and play and go to sleep playing. She just wouldn't go in that one spot, or even anywhere near it. I read every guide on plot resetting. I switched between soft and hard resetting. Finally, when I was about to give up and redesign my whole town for her, she moved into the spot I wanted. I'm not very picky about spots either (none of my villagers are in a straight line), it's just that at that point my whole town was already set so I'd have to move paths or let her kill a bunch of trees/flowers/bushes.
On average, I think it takes me a day to plot reset. Some villagers are "quick" and only take an hour or two. My rules for plots: can't be on paths, flowers, trees, bushes or right in front of buildings.
I loaded up my mayor character and found Cherry laid her plot of land for her house in the worst possible spot! How can I plot reset to get her to move somewhere else?! I reset, but she's still there. Still haven't saved the game. Help, please. I've never plot reset.
NM. I saved and quit. I'm going to kick her out the old fashioned way.
I have PWP's all around my town. It makes plot resetting super easy for me to do. It usually takes me around 20-30 tries until they're in the perfect spot. I do like when it only takes about 2-3 tries then I'm done. So, I get the whole "I won ACNL" deal. haha
