When is the next update?

RIGHT? same. I've been disappointed about the lack thereof since the day that the game came out and I realized they weren't there. I honestly could care less about like MOST if not all of the other things except for them. the game feels really weird and non-AC without them and I love them SO much so I am really hoping they come back SOON. that's not something they need to add as an afterthought. I want them in order to complete my island decor.

Me too! That first time it rained I was so happy, and then disappointed afterwards when they didn’t show up. I used to decorate my houses in new leaf back then and would love if they came back. Now the possibilities are even bigger if they can be added as decoration to be used outside as well.
 
We should had heard something by now for an August update. I'd say mid to late August is likely right now.

So, to summarise: the update trailer's probably going to come out either on the 30th or 31st of July, and going by previous update days, that points to it being updated on the 6th or 7th of August (which isn't great imo)... don't take this as a given, but at the same time, there's a load of evidence supporting it.

(also, yeah, AC social media's usually quiet on weekends, the Bug-Off reminder from today's an exception to that)

At first I had a mini panic attack reading that Brewster references had been removed.
 
@satine and @Bluebellie I feel the same way! The weird thing is I rarely messed with gyroids in previous games, it's just kind of... Wrong that they aren't here. Not in villager houses, not in the ground after rain. It feels like a weird gap, one of those quirky little AC things like bell trees and balloons and pitfall seeds that feels so essential to the game.
I also would probably use them a lot more now that we can decorate outside!
 
Early August, I imagine it'll be like the July one, which I believe was ANNOUNCED late June, then implemented on the 3rd, right?

So I'm expecting we'll be getting details soon!

I'm willing to bet, if it's "just" a fireworks show, there's more to go along with it. As in, I'm guessing it'll be a new "event", with new recipes, new resources to collect (maybe we'll be catching sparks with our nets?), etc. Didn't Redd have stands set up with rare items at fireworks festivals in ACNL? I wouldn't be surprised if that's back, too. Or something similar at least.
I can't imagine they'll just be like "LOOK! PRETTY LIGHTS! ...'Kay, see you next month."
 
I am worried that if gyroids return, that will be it for me.

I do not want to dig them up the day after it rains, as it's always raining on my island.

Gyroids should be optional.

They were not optional.

If it rained, they appeared the next day.
That isn't optional. :-/

If you don't dig them up, more will still appear.

I was obviously talking about having to constantly keep digging them up.

Yeah redd had a stand with fortune cookies and stuff in it. When I said just fireworks I didnt mean like JUST fireworks I meant the whole firework show spectacular with everything in it

If the update adds Redd's Fortune Cookie stand, I might finally get to meet Redd haha.

NH is my first AC game so I don't really know the appeal for Gyroids; do they just make silly sounds or can you actually compose songs with them? Rick Roll your neighbours?.

Mostly silly sounds, but they're also just neat, collectible decorations. Also, I suppose if you timed things right, you could "compose" songs in a roundabout way... no matter what you can definitely get them timed to add some extra pizzazz to music you already have playing in your house.

Personally, I just really like the look of them. They're kind of weird, but in a charming way, and I didn't think I'd miss them as much as I do!

I feel the same way on this... I'm not much for collecting them, I only liked the Brewster gyroids with the café sounds. I hope that they make them like the fossils where there is a maximum buried number or just make them disappear after a day.
 
I’m indifferent to Gyroids coming back personally, but they should still return for the people who want them. I just want Brewster for the café and to drink virtual coffee.
I just want more shops… there’s like 3 special buildings
