Alrighty, so it's been a month since I started Animal Crossing New Leaf and for a few weeks I've been having various villagers request to move. Usually it's Elise my spectacle-wearing monkey. But I haven't let any of them go. Some I love too much to release into the world just yet, and others I have ulterior motives: their pictures.
Unfortunately none of my villagers have yet to give me this even though I shower them with attention, gifts, and letters. Lately I've been wondering if I should just let a few go since I want to meet different critters.
So I'd like to hear everyone's thought. Do you keep your villagers around in hopes of getting their pictures and once you have them it's OK for them to move? Do you just let them go so you can make room for more? AND will you keep filing out villagers to meet new ones? Or are you seeking your own perfect town filled with your favorite villagers. Where you get the ones you want and then won't let any of them move? Do you think you'll get bored with the same old folks? Or will it just make the game all the more fun for you?
I'm the kind of person who loves meeting new villagers. There's only a select few I want to stay, so I often let villagers move. And more recently, I'm been giving away my villagers to people who want them more than I do. It's just more fun to cycle through new animals!
I let one of my villagers move awhile ago (Baabara) because she was in the spot I wanted to put my cafe. Other than her I want to get everyone's pictures before they leave. I want a few of my villagers to stay forever though. The others can move so I can meet new animals, its fun to meet new residents.
I restarted my town yesterday, and one of the reasons was that in my old town, i didnt get everyones pictures, and as i did that in WW ( i had over 60 pics) i got annoyed
So yes ill be keeping all until i get their pictures, in my old town i got Timbra & Mitzi's pic.. but i was never going to let them move anyway, Mitzi lives in my new town, and i have her picture which i brought over when i restarted, so i have no pressure with her, so thats one less to focus on :3
ive found it not too hard to get pictures, and im focusing on getting 8/9 i really like, so that i wont feel annoyed if i have an ugly villager and want them to move, but dont have their picture :3
So far im getting Lopez as my sixth, and one of my dream villagers as my seventh, Vesta, so none to dislike yet
I usually keep people I'm fond of for longer. That said I do plan on switching out some of my neighbors. Some I would like to remember by having pics, but I don't really feel attached unless I like the neighbor or they like me.
I love it when villagers move out unless I have a strong attachment to them like I do with my bb Graham! I'm letting Bam and Beau move out, but only for my friend who really wants them. it's going to be so hard though since they're in my top 10 favourite list for the entire game D: Especially Beau, he easily makes my top 3 :c
I only try getting the picture of the villagers I really like, and those I probably won't let move out because I'm too attached. So except for a select few, if a villager asks to leave, I'll let them.
I don't think I will ever let Wolfgang, Butch or Diana go, but if any other villager asks, sure.
I've been trying to keep everyone until I can block off the areas where I don't want houses, and I'm still not done with that (a house in the way of a bridge is my pet peeve since it could happen in City Folk!) but I went ahead and let Tiffany go the 2nd time she asked because (a) I've never liked her and (b) her house was right between my event plaza and town hall and it was driving me nuts. Hopefully I can finish placing PWs before anyone new moves in.

Im definitely not letting anyone leave until i have their picture, which could take months haha! I already Have Mitzi's pic though, but shes not leaving :3
I let villagers go if they want but still woo them continuously to the end if I don't yet have their pics. A villager leaving means another villager gets to come in so I'm usually excited.
I've got the major areas I want reserved blocked off with street lamps and a fruit stash for replanting orchards. Hopefully my defenses against rogue house placements are strong enough!
I have a few favourites I'm going after so I gotta kick some villagers out to make room. xD
Plus theres an area of my town I wanna reserved for certain projects so I can't have anyone's house in the way.
But if I don't have their pictures, they aren't allowed anywhere!
