When gifting villagers...?

I have started trying to raise friendship with my villagers! I know wall mounted items with high resale are best, but should I give it to them by hand or send the gift in a letter? Which one yields higher results?

I’ve just been absorbing information from this forum. If there’s a good guide to reference, please share!

Sending mail doesn’t raise friendship. Best to wrap the gift and hand it to the villager directly. Here’s the datamine about friendship:

I'm also trying to increase my friendship level and this helps, so I'm assuming they won't put up the wall mounted furniture in their houses? I now want to give them furniture instead of fruits but I'm afraid they might hang it up

Can somebody help with with a question. It says you get better points if a villager tells you when another is sick, and you then take medicine to them compared to the sick villager telling you themselves they are sick.

What happens if you bring the sick villager medicine without anyone (including the sick villager) telling you they are sick?

It’s my understanding that they won’t hang it up, but you do run the risk of them taking down any wall mounted items they do have. I’m giving them all hanging terrariums so even they do hang it up, at least I like it.

So far, none of my villagers have displayed their gifts on their walls!

It seems that you get bonus points if another villager tells you about a sick villager. Otherwise, you may get fewer points if you bring the medicine directly.

Wrapped fruit or clothes that they like (their style preference and color) is what I try to go with though they do tend to display their clothing around their house too, but it doesn't really bother me. Seeing them wear nice clothes makes me happy.
