Thread title.

One of the things I'm looking forward to most (aside from the dream suite...) is another upgrade to Nook's Cranny. The first upgrade added a lot of furniture to the available pool, and I expect further updates will do the same (and potentially being Nintendo items back if fortune cookies return? Or remove lief from the visiting npc pool?)...

But I'll be honest and say that I expected us to have the next upgrade by now. I know we're only 3 months in, so I probably just need to chill... But when do you think we'll see it? All answers are obviously just purely speculation, but I'm curious.

I could imagine it being a part of a big anniversary update personally. Like, the first year seems a little dedicated to filling in the gaps of the missing NPCs or features so far.

I was hoping for it to be in the July update - and it very well could still be, just unannounced - but as far as we know it's not coming now. I'd guess that it'd come sometime in fall, or maybe in the wave 2 update.

With only one upgrade, Nook's Cranny is very much lacking in comparison to past Animal Crossing games. I don't believe that Nintendo can wait to push out a new upgrade for too long because they risk people getting too bored with the game with not enough new material. I think they'd save some huge new upgrades (kind of like with the Welcome Amiibo update) for a few years down the line, not something more basic like a store upgrade.

On that note, it'd be cool to see new shops added, such as one for Kicks, or even an Able Sisters' upgrade! Maybe an upgrade for them that expands their selection to include Label items and a Shampoodle, perhaps?

If they ever thought of bringing Gracie and Harriet back, maybe they can all merge along with Kicks and Leif so we get a huge shopping center. That way Redd can show up more often.

A mall like building is something I've wanted since the GameCube game. I would love this!

i’m hoping for the july/august update but maybe that’s just wishful thinking ;u;

i would like an upgrade, but im kinda scared i'll have to redo my whole town aesthetic if it ends up looking like a department store

im hoping for the august update.i think ppl have datamined a reference to/the actual next nook's cranny update, so it has to come at some point. im just hoping that with the upgrade, more furniture/furniture sets are added. i feel like that would make the most sense because all the items in our store are locked to one color and with how many items we can purchase id wager most ppl who have played every day since launch have already bought all there is to buy.

i would like to think that it will happen anytime soon, but the fact that we got the first upgrade after only a month of playing makes me kind of unsure, because in previous games after a month we were able to have all the upgrades already. even though i fully support the upgrade system i dont really know why the shop expansions arent in the game yet

A year is far too long to have something like the next Nook upgrade. (In reply to whoever said anniversary update.) By its first year we should have all the basic stuff. If we're still being drip-fed basic stuff at the time it becomes one year, they're going to upset and potentially lose a lot of people.

They'll come back when it comes out for sure, but for how long? You don't want to drag on stuff that long.

I think if anything it could come late August?
I would love to see a reappearance of Gracie
same omg i loved her furniture sets. if she reappears, hopefully it's as a furniture-designer (not as an event npc pls ;-; ) since Label kinda moved into her fashion spot. if Gracie reappears, though, i don't know if id want her to be a traveling merchant like literally almost all the shop npcs are, or if i want her to follow tradition & partner with the Nooks' store.

I would love an upgrade to their shop! Or maybe the ability to customize the colors!!

I’d like an upgrade this year please. Also maybe a shop customization ( that blue roof color is no good).

But don’t remove Leif from the plaza (he just looks sooo cute there). It makes the town look much nicer whenever he shows up.

If it gets upgraded to a mall, I would really like it to be off like the back of your island. Like how in NL you walked to a separate part. That way we can have more houses on our island

i'd love an upgrade, although would love to see the roost and maybe another external shop first to help grow our islands.

maybe with the upgrade Reese and Cyrus could open a furniture floor.

i do kinda miss the first version of nooks cranny it had a beautiful beach shack kinda vibe. I wish we could've kept it as well somehow.

You’re right about that.

Not all people who begin playing a game will play it for the same period of time.

I played “New Leaf” from August 2013 until “New Horizons” came out in March 2020. (Granted, I bought several retail copies because I liked creating towns and experiencing different villagers.)

Many people stopped after, say, a year. For some, it was even less. People stop when they feel it has played out for them personally. (Remember—YouTube’s chuckaaconroy did his video game-plays for a year, between 2013 to 2014, and then cut off before returning for one last round just after the release of the Welcome, amiibo! update in November 2016!)

We will all find out how this goes with “New Horizons.”

For the most part, most people kind of hit the burn out phase around 1-3 months. All of the Animal Crossing games I have owned were always like that. Sure I came back later, but I wasn't playing it as often. So that's the problem with having content so slowly drip-fed.

Some people have even mentioned how they're feeling the burnout and would get the usual responses like 'the game is not for you', 'this amount of hours/months is common for the shine to wear off' ect, but those other games were COMPLETE when they got the burn out. NH is not.

Unfortunately, we will see it when Nintendo decides we are ready for it. I would love it if we got it in August. It took about a month between the first and second upgrades in New Leaf depending on how much you spent in the store.

I am one of the ones hoping for extra buildings for shops because I just loved Leif's flower shop in New Leaf. Dream of dreams, we would have an option to make a separate building or to just merge them into Timmy and Tommy's.
