New York has a Fall Foliage Report, and it looks like they're going to start posting reports soon for this year. Was supposed to be today, but they haven't yet. It's pretty cool because it tells you if the leaves are just changing or past their peak like a weather forecast map.
I'm in the midwest and they look the best here around late October to early November. By mid November everything starts to look dead and depressing and it stays that way until April or May.
i really miss the usa in autumn because the trees and mountains look so gorgeous and red, its probably what i miss most about it. here, the leaves start turning yellow in october before they just eventually turn brown, skipping red and orange and they crumple off and die in november.
Eastern Canada sees the leaves change in late-September/early-October. Took a few snaps last year (unfortunately not during the peak, but still pretty). A cross-country trip sounds like a lot of fun - enjoy it and take lots of photos!
I'm in Ontario, Canada and normally they start around Canadian Thanksgiving. There's currently a few trees starting to colour early this year which is nice!
I live in Appalachia too! The leaves haven’t quite changed yet but will in mid to late October, and they are honestly breathtaking. They only last a couple weeks before they all fall off though, it’s super quick! I’d like to do an open cart train ride one of these days to really appreciate the leaves
Our leaves are already starting to fall this year and only a few of them have even turned yellow. Several trees just had a massive drop last night during a storm and now they're almost bare.
