Haha! I got lucky with mine, I suppose. Now I've got 100+ and cloning. By any chance, do you have a gold lucky cat? I wonder if that would help anything.When most methods give a 1.5% to 5.5% chance through a rigorous process, I don't think it's user error.
I don't actually; being the good Resident Rep I am, I gave it to Ankha, since I thought it would be fitting.
I now regret giving it to her LOL

It's never been as effective for me! I'm not sure why, I know other people do it.

I had a different path to purple pansies (had no luck with the red hybrid method). I just tried to find where I got my method, but couldn’t. Anyway, I did white (seed) and white (seed) makes blue. Yellow (seed) and red (seed) makes orange. Blue and orange makes orange hybrid. Orange hybrid x orange hybrid makes purple.Do you have a particular hybrid flower that for whatever reason you just can't get to spawn? Like, you've been watering the parent flowers forever and ever and the desired hybrid just won't spawn?
Mine is purple pansies. I have a FIELD of hybrid reds that just keep spitting out more reds, and even a white pansy recently! It's at least an inventory full of hybrid reds.
I recently coaxed some black cosmos to spawn out of a similar field of orange cosmos, and finally made my chic cosmos wreath today
(Meanwhile, a black rose spawned in a completely unattended patch on my 3rd level... Oh, RNG)
Blue roses took forever for me. Finally got my second (clone of the first) yesterday.
Purple windflower for me! I looked at an incorrect guide at first so wasted a couple weeks breeding the wrong flowers....but even with the correct guide it probably took me the longest to get these purple windflowers than any other flower

Mine was pink tulips. Even though I got one fairly quickly, when it came to breeding for more my town exploded with most rarer hybrids and just stopped at like 3 pink tulips and I struggled for ages to get any more, all my reds, whites and pinks just gave more red and white. Ended up borrowing some off of a friend and TTing to clone them.
Black cosmos. I gave up since they aren’t the prettiest flower anyway. When I first started playing I was given a lot of hybrids (blue rose, purple hyacinths) which I then cloned, so I didn’t have to go through the pain of getting those.
Purple windflowers. No matter what I did I just couldn't get the things to spawn. They were the last thing I needed to complete a major part of my island and I'd been held up on finishing it for months because of them. I got so sick of waiting that I just had to swallow my pride and ask for them on here.
Blue roses. One spawned randomly in a spot where there were two red flowers that I didn't even realize were the right kind of red flowers. I don't even remember watering them. I moved everything to a rose bed with more room for spawning, but no more blue roses spawned.

Right now, it is all of them! When I decided to tear down and redesign my island fir the third time (it's current design), I decided to sell all of my flowers including all of my hybrids. Now I'm focusing on breeding different colors in my designated flower beds. Working on orange tulips, black roses, and pink mums currently.
Mine was green mums back when I was trying to breed them. Ended up getting some from friends and cloning them instead. Later on the rainy season got me some green hybrids from my purple hybrid fields but I wasn't actively seeking them. Now they are spreading like crazy

I could never get a blue rose even after trying two different methods. I went ahead and bought some, and a blue rose spawned by my red hybrids the very next day. I also had a very hard time getting green mums and purple windflowers. Pansies were the easiest for me though.
