What's your experience with rude villagers?

The only time a villager was rude was when Bree talked to Raddle and all but outright said he was stupid. The crankies are among the most caring villagers for some reason.

Then there's just the "stop talking to me" dialogue that I think we can all agree comes way too early for all personality types.

Rude villagers and NH doesn't mix. Nor did it mix with NL either. They've been lobotomized in both games to be your best friend forever. It was my biggest gripe in NL and it wasn't changed in NH.

Agreed. I don't consider this rude. Just a terrible creative choice on the team. They all seem too antisocial. If I talk to you in the morning and the next time is at nighttime, it's been 8+ hours since our last conversation. You're being weird. You only have to talk to them twice for it to be initiated. Someone dropped the dev team on their head.

I haven’t experience any rudeness towards me. Sure, villagers will tease you if you keep leading them into small talk, but who wouldn’t? I would hardly call that rude.

OG rude villagers would never fly in today’s climate, but a more obvious rudeness would be nice to have again, in my opinion, it gives the animals more life to them.

"So, uh... minutes been treating you well?" is pretty much the extent of it in this game. Granted, that's still more than NL as I remember it.

new horizons villagers aren't rude. they can be annoying but calling them rude is a bit overly sensitive considering what we had to deal with in old titles, lol

I don't really put that much weight into these characters for me to perceive them as rude. The most I'll do is add little side stories to them to make them stand apart from someone else's Sherb and whatnot. In the end, they're just programmed with the same personality brain.

I feel a terrible need to defend the uchi personality so I will.

The uchi personality is probably one of the most disliked, going by what I've read in online forums. I remember watching Twitch streamers play NH when the game launched. And the hate on uchi villagers shocked me. One hated his uchi so much, he hit her with a net repeatedly every time he saw her. He visited a friend who also had a uchi villager and they both hit her repeatedly whenever they saw her. My poor heart. That was so rough to see.

I happen to love the uchi personality. I think it's highly misunderstood. The uchi personality is always honest, will never mince her words, and this is what rubs players the wrong way. Their attitude and sass --not rudeness-- is what makes them uchi. But you know what is beneath all that attitude and sass? A pure heart of gold! The uchi villager is probably the only one who will stand up for the player. This is proof. <- click on link

So far, I don't believe the game has rude villagers. I think the snooty comes close, but it's more sarcasm than rudeness. And cranky villagers are just boomers. (And I don't mean to disparage. I love my cranky islanders. By popular definition, I am, myself, a boomer through and through. )

Don't get me wrong. I do like Uchis. They were one of my favorite personalities in New Leaf and some of my all time favorite villagers are Uchis.

But. I also know people like New Horizons uchis in real life and I find them extremely hard to get along with. From my experience, they never admit that they are wrong, they never apologize because they don't think they can do anything wrong, and their "sassiness" comes off as either a "I have it harder than you will ever understand" vibe or just plain rude because of their "bluntness".

Will everyone have this experience? Probably not. But, I do and it does color my perception of uchis and makes me think of their sassyness as rude.

I prefer the New Leaf uchis because while they can be a bit bossy and sassy, they do come off as warm and caring much faster than the New Horizons uchis do.

I love your defense of the uchi characters. But maybe those who happen to dislike them have a bad experience with sassy and bossy people. Maybe that is why they are a hard personality to warm up to in New Horizons. Just offering a different perspective. ♡

This is my first AC game, so unfortunately ( ) I missed out on the rudeness from the previous games.
I guess the rudest thing I hear is something along the lines of "I'm seeing a lot of you today" when you talk to them a lot.

However, I was shocked when I saw on Tumblr a gif of Dotty from WW telling the user that she hopes they go to jail and that she wishes their house to burn down

I'd imagine that to be quite traumatic to little kids, but as an adult, I feel like I missed out.
The villagers are quite bland...and it feels like a chore to talk to them in this game.

I find it horribly rude when my villagers are watching me terraform with my hardhat on, and then proceed to sit down RIGHT IN FRONT of me where I am terraforming!! Its so annoying lol, some of my villagers do this more than others and one time I got so fed up with it that I TT'd to 4am so no one would be awake and in my way lmao
