When it comes to your house, how do you decorate? Do you go with furniture sets? Do you mix and match? Does your house have a specific theme or do you just throw whatever looks cool in there?

I'm not a very creative person, so I usually just stick to furniture sets and throw in a few other things that look nice. But recently I made a cafe room (sort of) and even though it doesn't look all that great, I still still like it more than, say, my rococo room which is all just rococo furniture and pretty boring. My actual house doesn't have much of a theme to it though. Each room has its own theme but none of them are related to each other.

I don't go for theme anymore after I get all prize =x my house currently is a mix and match~ still under WIP xD

I just mix and match several sets / misc items that look good together in a room
None of my houses have a set overall theme; I tend to lean towards more pastel colored or rustic-ish rooms though

Once I get the "Antique theme" completed, I'll produce more of a variety of furniture and different mix and match things in my house. They will all still be loosely connected to the Vintage theme though. For my side characters, I just mix and match from the start, because I dont want to do the theme challenge :P

I try to mix it up a little bit. the animals always insult me when I do. haha. oh well. I mostly like ornate rococo-like things. :3

Mix and match as well. I tried to go with sets once, but I thought it looked a bit too uniform! Sets look great on relatively small rooms, but on an 8x8 (fully-expanded) room it looks drab without other, complementing furniture. Vintage-style furnitures are wonderful.

I try to stick to my exterior theme (Fairytale), but I had a "theme" happening on my main floor already.

Main room is mermaid, left room cabana, right pirate, and back room tropical vista/beach theme.
I have the Princess set upstairs and Sweets in my basement though, so that helps with the exterior challenge. I just can't get rid of my main room floors, I love them too much.

Decorating my rooms is probably my favorite thing to do in Animal Crossing, which may explain why I always end up neglecting my towns and they end up looking like a post-apocalyptic war zone. @_@

In all seriousness, I'm a fan of using attractive sets with unexpected pieces mixed in. For example, I have one room with the full Ice Series (which I think is absolutely stunning) with colorful accent pieces like the Rainbow Screen, Matryoshka, Dolly, Candy Jar, Nutcracker, and Genie's Lamp to make the room pop. One of my all-time favorite rooms has pieces from the Minimalist Series paired with the Exquisite Carpet and Wall, with a plethora of bonsai trees, plants, and neutral colored statues (Mouth of Truth, Big Ben, Robust Statue, and Beautiful Statue) placed asymmetrically so that it doesn't look cluttered even with an abundance of like items in the same space. That room also has the Stained Glass Lamp, Red Vase, and Cube Clock.

The house with the aforementioned rooms is set to the Fairy Tale Theme, and I have a score of 465,000 points at present. I know that's not terribly high, but I can't bring myself to get rid of the Minimalist room.

I usually like furniture sets and I add little pieces here and then that match with them. Like at one point, I had the modern furniture with random chess pieces that i customized so that they were black and white together with the set. Overall, I think it's much better to just put stuff that looks nice together. I visited one dream town and the player told me that's what they did and I think their interior was probably one of the better ones I've ever seen. Like in my top 5.

I decorate my ACNL house with the type of furniture I like (in real life). I'm really into rococo, victorian, antique, and Marie Antoinette-esque type of furniture and architecture, so my house in the game is that way.

I have the biggest house available and I have set up the rooms this way:

1. Main Room
-Like a living room. I have sofas, a fire place, a piano, tables with snacks and display items, etc.

2. First Floor, Left
-Set up like a dining hall with 3 tables lined up with chairs on both sides. The tables have food. There's also a fire place and some other decorative things.

3. First Floor, Back
-My office. Has a desk, chair, most of the classical string instruments, bookshelves, etc.

4. First Floor, Right
-A parlor. This is a WIP, but is has seating area with a bar and fireplace. I also keep my real artworks on the wall here.

5. Second Floor
-My bedroom, mostly with items from the Rococo and Princess series.

6. Basement
-This is my alchemy lab! It has some of the creepy furniture, lab equipment, fire, cabinets with ingredients.

I mix and match sets, I don't really care about my house score though. I like things elegant but simple.

I go with a cozy/cottage theme. So usually I mix furnitures up a bit and just add a few things to complete the look.

I call my style "messy chic"

no, no. I got a better one. Rats nest. That's what my style is.

I do try to get sets for the HHA rating, but mostly go with what looks nice.

It's funny though, my friend was looking at my house and said something like "Kitsune, I think your character is rich or something cause you seem to have live in servants! ha!" See I have a fully upgraded main room with fancy furniture. To the right is the kitchen with a manikin chef in front of the stove. To the back is a guest bedroom. To the right is a small room with basic furniture and a washing machine with a manikin wearing simple and conservative clothes. The basement is storage, and upstairs has the master bedroom with furniture for a child and adult sharing the space. It's hilarious because I absolutely did not mean for it to look like that. Total accident with the servants.
