What's wrong with the plot resetting?

Hello :)

First of all, sorry if this is the wrong thread, I couldn't find something especially for this :s

A friend of mine currently plot resets in her town. Not for a special villager but it's a random move in (she restarted her town and this is her eight villager) and she doesnt want it to move in a bad spot.

So she started plot resetting around five hours ago and since then the villager's plot ALWAYS apears on the same spot. Always the same spot, sometimes with a difference from around 2 or 3 "fields" but always the same spot right behind her house. And 90% of the time it's Shari, Cherri or Charlise.
She already tried different ways of turning off her 3DS, like closing the game with the home button, closing it with completely turning of the DS or closing it with pressing the power and then the home button. But it's still always the same spot. Does someone know what's wrong with the game or why it's always the same spot?

If there is a difference occasionally of a few spots and in the villager she gets, it's probably just bad RNG. I know people have spent days resetting for certain things and always getting pretty much the same results.

Good luck to her.

plot resetting can be very agonizing;; it's probably just because she's having really bad like at the moment >:

The way I plot reset was start the game ONLY by making a new character. Then I go see where the plot is, and I reset if it's OK. Is your friend doing that? I find the plot is in a different place each time. Maybe it's because your friend started with her mayor character?
Another method she could do without making a new character is TTing to 5:56am and finding the plot before it strikes 6am (with your mayor). You can play the game normally if she likes her plot. (Also, I'm not exactly too sure what happens if you don't like your plot; perhaps you save and quit before 6am hits? Anyone can correct me if they want).

EDIT: Also, she could just be extremely unlucky :(

Yep, just bad RNG, like The221Believer said.

What she can do is if she hasn't loaded up yet, go a day backwards on the 3DS clock, start up a new character, make ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY sure there is no plot, then go through house set-up with nook and register with isabelle so she can save. Then she can go on her mayor, and if she's at 100% approval rating, throw a PWP in back of her house where the random is landing, then go back to resetting and tear the pwp down when she's done.

Yes, she started with making a new character! That's why it sometimes changes between Cherri, Charlise and Shari. Otherwise I'd have already saved the villager.

Starting the game with your mayor before it hit's 6 AM unfortunately doesn't work, because the game ALWAYS will be saved when you start it with an existing character. The time doesn't changes anything :s

What does RNG mean?

RNG means random number generator. it just means basically random chance that a game gives you.

Does she have other empty spaces that house plots can appear? If her town is full of PWPs and other stuff and that might be the only place they can settle down? that's only thing I can think of xD;

i dont think so because he stated that she recently resetted her town and this is her 8th villager so theres no way she could have set up pwps that the plot only spawns in one spot.

Never had this with new villager plots before, but often in one plot-resetting session things like new hybrids and gem rock locations often repeat or alternate between a few select options. When I want to change things up (eg. the reoccurring rock could be blocking the new plot from a good spot), I go back to the last day I played, play a bit more and save again. Then on the new plot-reset day everything will be different.

Not saying that's the solution for your friend's situation because I've never heard of a scenario of repeating villagers before, but they could at least try it.

Incorrect. Yes, the mayor will have it saved, but when you load it before 6 AM, it has not saved the town in a state where the plot is there. You have to TT to 5:58/9 AM, load the mayor, then quit, then wait a bit, then make the new character. I don't know where you got that fact from but I know from plot resetting myself that it actually works.

Anyway, that's just what happens with plot resetting. Just tell them to keep trying. That's all there is to it, it's just a test of luck.
