What's With the Sloppy Set?

Some days ago, Marshal invited me to his house and I hate his furniture and wallpaper/carpet, so I bought his Sloppy couch from him (so I can send him Rococo or Classic items.) It cost I think over 200 and it was quite ugly, so I went to see how much it was in Re-tail, and it was only 150. I know that people would pay a lot for it, so it's been sitting by Re-tail ever since. Why does everyone like the Sloppy series so much??

I just find it funny that Marshal, the (most likely) most popular villager has Sloppy furniture. You would kind of expect more from a Smug.

I only got Marshal from a random move in. Actually, I got him twice. The first time, he moved in a bad spot but now, his house, Whitney's, and Carmen's make a nice little community, as there is also a beach ramp, streetlight, and bridge (as well as Flo's and Anabelle's houses but shhh.)
